Title: SnapperII question
Post by: Enoch on March 11, 2011, 02:12:04 PM
alright most of you will prolly know this one easy but i cant seem to figure it out lol..... how come when i attach more than just drive to my snapperII's , they wobble randomly? i figured it was a balance issue or a weight problem but when i go look at bots like Pwnator's Archetype i realise his is way more complex on the snapper's and doesnt wobble in the least bit??? i cant even drive without my tires flopping about and yet there set up alot like archetypes... i can post screenies or a vid later if you want let me know.... any help would be greatly appreciated   ~Enoch

P.S. on another note if this is in the wrong section i apologize i wasnt sure where it would go so i posted in general discussion.

alright here is one of the nearly 5 bots built similarly(in regards to drive/wep which is in question) to archetype i dont have screens of archetype though but the .bot is in the BOTM bot exchange section of this website

Archetype's drive is as wobbly as Limbo (not really heck, because I've had bots with wobblier drives)! :P

Also, here's the most visible explanation - your jugglers and your drive are on the same snappers. If you've noticed, Archetype's HS setup is static because if it were bursted, the momentum from the spinners would screw up the drive's orientation. The VSes don't matter because the acceleration it carries is perpendicular to the arc motion of the snappers. Either the weapon setup or the drive should be static.

actually... i didnt notice it was static... what else was attached? i moved one wheel wondering how they were stuck in there along time ago and the drive wheel wasnt the only thing that moved... and are you sure its wobbly? it drives great for me(albeit a lil too fast) but not wobbly lol.... meh i prolly dont know nearly as well as you, hopefully not at least since you built it :) any suggestions then as to how to snapper load both without gaining the wobbly in my drive?....both drives on one snapper dont wobble but i cant seem to place em right and i have a hard time snapper loading more than one thing per connecter point as im not sure how to eFFe yet... thanks for the input though at least i think im understanding this a lil better :)

You can pick my bot apart, you know. :P

If you insist on putting both the weapon system and the drive on the same snappers, you have to change the orientation of the snapper.

Try this: 2 side-by-side Snapper IIs with the circular secret AP facing the rear and arms facing the sides. Those arms hold you jugglers. On each secret AP, a sideways extender goes out to the side and an extender is attached to the AP facing the center. That's where you attach your drive.

That way, any torque from the motors won't affect the snappers because the torques are perpendicular to the snapper's arc motion. :D

thank you for all your help :) but could i perhaps trouble you once more?... i think i understand what your talking about but i dont learn very well from reading, do you think you could build a plain box with just one snapper in it with the exteneder setup your talking about attached and post a pic? that would be MOST epic

EDIT: and if you tell me how to give you rep, ill definately give you rep+

Square extenders are your locations for your motors. If you want 4WD, the other ends of the rear extenders can accommodate 2 more motors.

well i can see the advantages of using that setup... but you lost me on the 4 wheel part o_O im wouldnt have a clue how to put 4 HPZ's for drive one that without knowing how to eFFe, i know how to snapper load but im not sure how to place more than one hpz in the same general place, i think you have to eFFe to put 2 hpz's in the same spot like on archetype(although he stepped it up and has 3 on each side in the same spot o_O) ill play with it perhaps ill eventually figure out eFFe glitch and how to put my wheels like archetypes lol

EDIT: LOL i got tired of trying to learn the eFFe glitch on my own(which is how ive learned everything so far) and watched sage's vid lol that ez..... ok so i can eFFe now wonder if itll help ^^

 wow... i just ripped him apart and now i gotta know... how in the *witty adult phrase* did you attach 3 hpz's on one snapperII in the same spot and on round extenders at that?? absolutely epic....

Probably Snapper loading... Sage has a tutorial video on that as well.

yea it took me about half an hour of playing but i figured it out and have one myself now.... i still gotta give you props for the epic stacking you did in that bot... i couldnt get an extender on the second when i stacked mine and i couldnt get em to stack with enough space for the extenders  :frown:
