Simple question...
« on: October 07, 2008, 02:27:04 PM »
Okay so yea, I'm new here and of course Ive been playing this game for quite some time blah blah blah blah.

My question is simple:

AAM? (or as I would call it: "How to stack sh** in the same place?")

I've tired doing it...got confused....tutorial would be nice, if not a simple explanation were I went wrong would help.

Basically what I tried to do was open the gmf file to a component (at least I thought that's what you are supposed to do to edit it) but unfortunately I got this:

"It was said back in the day if you asked a person who they were, they pointed to their car. If you ask a person who they are today, they point to their phone".

The thing you need is the GMF tool compiler/uncompiler... search the downloads page or the Beetlebros site.

By the way, it is the bot file you need to edit, and AAM is chea... hmm you must know that.

I am quite aware of that, I was curious for this due to multiple reasons, but one in particular was more of a necessity as I added an anti - weight ballast as it were, and now my bot is -9325.6 kg and when ever I test/ fight with it it just flies off into some glitched area in the blink of an eye; I assumed this was due to the negative amount of weight.

That point aside I really was wanted to do it out of boredom, in most cases I will not use that, but I wanted to try something new...

you possibly edited osmehting in the gmf.

make sure you click "decompile" at the bottom of the dummy thing.
but AAM im pretty sure is .bot file editting, not gmf.
You got my vote for RA2 Wizard. Always and forever.

Use anti-ballasts only on the bot lab, and be sure to remove them prior testing/fighting with your bot in.

The über-havok that makes your bot fly is just because the game can't stand negative weight components.

It's probably because you're running Windows Vista ;).

Easy AAM method:
1) Replace the target weapon GMF file with the T connector GMF file (be sure to make a backup!)
2) Run game, attach target weapon (with the mesh of a T connector) to the desired place, close game
3) Replace back the original GMF file.

He probably wants to know how to stack components the legal way......he needs to look at the part from above and move another part into the same spot untill it appears the proper color. Practice with base plate anchors, then move up to Purple batteries, then put a control board under a purple battery.
Here is a building tutorial https://gametechmods.com/RA2wiki/index.php?title=Robot_Building_Techniques

If I compare the two posts you have made in this thread... Am I wrong or have you lost a fair bit of communication skills/intelligence in three years ?

Or simply tired ?

All I see in your post is off-topic trash and an irrational hate of a group.

All I see in your post is off-topic trash and a rational hate of Lars.
Just a joke between Scorp and I, considering how much we argue about the band. I hold great respect for James and Rob, and a bit for Kirk, so there is no hate, so to speak.
But I take it back.

Firebat, we will help you as soon as you can make a coherent sentence explaining your difficulty.

You were kind of right though madman, he's now a metallica fan, which means that there's a much higher chance that he's drunk out of his mind listening to them ;P

Anyway, have you tried using the search function on this forum, i'm fairly certain i've seen atleast one thread already that has a tutorial for bfe.

Actually I've had my Metallica signature since day one.  After 3 years of constant failure I completely neglected to see the tutorial threads in this forums, I found what I wanted (thanks Sage). I thought you had to cheat to stack components, but I see it's just a case of exploiting the game engine (It's still hard though).

Oh, and one last question (it's nothing really): Can you guys build me a bot that will beat all your bots? =)

Thanks for all the positive help =D

Do tell me how that turns out when you're done.
