Really Odd Question

I was thinking about this a few hours ago while working at a summer camp. Could Robot Arena 2 be used as a teaching tool of some sorts? I know it's not exactly 100% realistic, but what do you guys think?

I feel like there is many more programs/other methods that are better suited to that than a 10+ year old game.
On another note, IIRC I remember some people saying that they got to play RA2 in class as some sort of fun activity in a CAD class or something.

I remember, back in Seventh Grade, one of the units in a class I took focused on RA2. The unit consisted of making a lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight; after which, each student made a Powerpoint presentation about their robots and the unit ended with a large multiplayer tournament, for which we got to choose whatever bot we wanted without regards to weight class. The copies of RA2 we used were probably from the CD, and all AI parts were hidden. The bots looked like what would be found on N00b Wars.

So, to 09, it was most likely me that said that.

Ha! I wish that could be a good excuse to play RA2 in class. But then again, 09 has already proven how you can.

I'm serious. When you have lots of stuf in a fridge or want to bring that and that with you in your car, you're thankful you played RA2.

The importance of pre-planning and design or problem solving with limited resources... something like that.

I've fond my ability to creatively plan robots in advance has strangely made me quite good at programming.

Split the group in to 3 groups
One groups makes Hws, one makes Mws, and one makes Lws then you let them fight.

When they complain about the fact that it is unfair that some group can you use more weight, you tell them that lifes not fair and that's their lesson. Then you hand out some communist newsletter to them.

There used to be an RA2 worksheet on some school's website but it got taken down years ago. I might still have a copy of it, though...

The unmodded game, not so much.

But if you know, or can teach how to make custom components, I've thought that RA2 would be a pretty good platform for designing and testing bots before building them in real life.  Kind of like a CAD program with physics.

You might also be able to teach something with AI programming, though there are probably better programs out there for that.
