NEW RULES!
Everyone anonymously submits a ballot with up to 25 nominees. Any robot that appears on 50% or more of the ballots gets inducted, whilst any robot with 25 %or more get Honorable mention. Ballots must be PM'ed to me. Ballots close on November 9, 2010.
-
i nominate SFTW
-
I nominate Absolute Chaos and E-Rupt.
-
Barbershop Chop
-
This should be done like the real Combat Robot Hall of Fame. Everyone anonymously submits a ballot with up to 25 nominees. Any robot that appears on 50% or more of the ballots gets inducted, whilst any robot with 25 %or more get Honorable mention
People can use this space to make a case for their favortie robots but the actual ballots should be submitted anonymously.
Those are my thoughts.
-
sonny you are a clever man
-
hmm ok i'll do it Sonny's way. Thanks, man.
-
I haz voted.
-
I think people should totally add Shinigami just for bouncing over robots ;D
Lol, only joking.
I shall vote sooooon.
-

No problem. Might I recommend you extend the deadline by a week, so that the voting process lasts a whole month? With everyone's busy schedules, that should allow people enough time to give it some thought.
Also, can we make appeals for certain robots? Because I think that at least one replica should make it into the Hall of Fame, preferably, Conquering Clown.
-
Bumble Bee = most controversial bot ever?
-
best worst: SFTW
most legendary: Childs play IV
most bot building efecting: E-rupt C (where can I get a pic BTW?)
most impacting/RA2 changing: jex air 3
-
Can this be moved to general discussion? I think more people will see it there.
-
yeah I will, its not a tournament so general discussion it will go
-
Remember Dirt Devil 4 for hanging on the Robot Wars Arena outershell :P
-
Will we update this, say every half year?
-
I sent you 5 robots, there's no forseeable way for me to name 25 robots from way back when. I can't remember them all. I ended up submitting the only AU tourney winner I could remember and EMERGENCY among the others.
-
@ GK: Yes we will. I will extend the deadline for a week. NEW DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 21.
-

TDS's 8-hammer angled VS.
Don't tell me you don't know that...
-
I didn't.
-
I must say I am very surprised to see project trinity and AC as only honorable mentions.
I was trying to put together a rather large meaningful list but ran out of time :P
-
who were you gonna vote for?
-
I spent to long as I was trying to justify every vote :P
AC- before BBEANS5 I dont believe it ever lost a match and forever flagged as one of the original (if not the) 32 HS.
Seism 13- a Marvel of AI engineering
Project Trinity- its in the name
Fury- probably the single most well known MW
E-Rupt- same deal as Trinity
Iron Outlaws- trying not to be bias here...
NWB- a very well know HW robot
SFTW- SFTW
ITI- SFTW (just joking, a very well known dark horse and successful chassis wedge)
thats all I had at this stage and I didnt think 9 was enough
-
Well nobody ever mentioned DA and I've never seen a picture of it...
So no I've never known of it before.
-
I voted for the outlaws Joe.
-
We forgot HoJ!
-
true. May as the first oversize Robot in RA2?
-
No. The first custom component bot that wasn't the cause of 5 vets relentlessly attacking somone in an attempt to get them to leave the forums. :P
-
.... what?
-
HoJ was 1 vote away from making an Honorable Mention.
-
Damn me for not voting for it!
-
EMERGENCY-it was wmy worst nightmare long time ago
-
.... what?
LURK MOAR
-
AC WAS NOT the ORIGINAL 36 HS.
Infinity was. But technically they had the same exact setup, so they are both the original :D
-
Bumble Bee = One of the most serious robot types ever made an the birth of hybrid crawlers  ? And unfortunately the birth of "The Crawler Hate Fan Club" A shallow and simple minded club lol :p .
^^^^^ FIX  .
-
no one voted Lil' Dog :( i will
-
If we do do this again... 25 votes is a lot to ask. what about 10?
-
It's better if you do as many as you want.
-
I vote K.C. Munchkin for most historic!
-
Well I say we do this again but 10 votes sounds good like every 6 months or so.
-
yeah as we dont want to induct a heap at a time
-
I will make a new thread for the July ballot.
edit: whoa, July 24? this will actually start in June 24, sorry.
-
Well... it is past June 24. Will the voting be held again?
-
Ballots are open and have been for a week, but only one person (qwertythe300th) has sent ballots. 2 more weeks, then voting closes, people! get those ballots in!
and Sage, you can have any number of votes from 1 to 25, you don`'t HAVE to have 25 votes :p
-
Imma thinking.
-
Oh now they tell me... :laughing .
-
BUMP
Can we carry on with this?
-
Oh yeah I remember that I could not vote for the honorable mentions to go into the HOF. It made me mad >:(
-
Sure, go ahead.
-
Did I send votes for this time?
-
No. No one has yet. You have until November 9th. GO!
-
Is anyone doing the HOF for this year? Hasn't been updated in a year.
-
I don't really see much point, to be fair. The old guard (RPB, NWB, AC, ERupt, Trinity et al) will garner interest and any new ideas would be dismissed for not being around long enough or something. It would just be a repeat of every Hall of Fame before.
-
IMO, Conraaa hit the nail on the head with his comment.
However, speaking of contests that haven't taken place in over a year, I wouldn't mind seeing the GTM awards start up again.

We had the GTM Awards for 2012, Craaig ran them.
-
Well it seems to me that there could be different ways of undergoing a productive HOF vote than the system previously used.....
-
I think a better system would be to have an annual "Bots Of The Year" vote. Where you vote for any bot made in the past year and any that garners 50% or more of the vote is inducted, with no limit on numbers and a few categories like Stock, DSL, DSL Realistic, Custom etc.
Like a hall of fame but not. Then we could also have an inaugural vote for robots made beforehand listed under "Classics" or something. So the older bots are recognized but the new breed isn't forgotten either.
If the above post makes sense.
-
I think we should have annual bot awards for the best bot in each category (as Conraaa said), like this:
Stock:
Best AW
Best BW
Best LW
Best MW
Best CW
Best HW
Best SHW
Best UHW
Best Replica
Best IRL Design
DSL:
Best AW
Best BW
Best LW
Best MW
Best CW
Best HW
Best SHW
Best UHW
Best Replica
Best IRL Design
Bot type awards:
Best Rammer
Best Poker
Best Popup
Best HS
Best VS
Best FS
Best Hammer
Best Drum
Best Side Hammer
Best Drill
Best Flipper
Best SnS
Best Juggler
I know this would be a lot to dig through but you could have nominations for each put forth by well-respected members.
-
I like Ian's idea. The seperate bot type section may be tricky due to the fact that it seems like there's been several new bot types pop up in DSL over the past year or so. Like we have FSNS, TRFBD, flail rammers, etc. Then there would have to be a category for hybrids too.
-
I have an idea kind of like Ian's, but personally I think a better idea.
Select builders will first nominate bots:
8 stock
-LW any
-MW any
-HW any
-LW forum builder
-MW forum builder
-MW forum builder
-Innovation
-Wild Card
6 DSL
-LW any
-MW any
-HW any
-IRL
-IRL
-Wild Card
.....and say the top 3 bots receiving the most votes earn nominations for the actual HOF vote....
from there the forum wide vote would take place
