Title: Okay holy crap.
Post by: KnivesInAToaste on February 08, 2013, 05:34:07 PM
Unless I get REALLY good at building bots I will never amount to this at all ever. I don't know the building glitches, my game crashes all the time (damn you Windows 7!)... Help please?

For build tips look at these links:

As for the crashing, try running RA2 from your Documents folder instead of Program Files if you have it there.

...Holy crap, these instructions are really in depth. I'm definitely a new builder, I never thought to make the space fit the components.

...okay one question. How do you rotate the extenders!? I've had to scrap so many bots because of that...!

Should be shift and then move around with the mouse. Also, to delete parts, click on the part and click the delete button, should be in the bot viewing window

Or press the delete key on your keyboard. :P

If you need help with rotating ones in stock, you can download Sage's Skin Pack which has a marked extender.

Not quite what I meant. I get the "Shift when placing" but I noticed this link (http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm#attach (http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm#attach)) showed rotating the extender after it was placed already. Was that the motor it was attached to? (I'm sorry for asking so many questions)

That is the eFFe glitch. The motor was attached to the servo. You can eFFe with any burst motor or regular motor.
If you need a better explantion, just watch this video:

Suddenly the robots I made before this seem a lot crappier. Still, thank you for being so helpful! I really think I can build some good bots with these tips. ^^

Not sure if it actually did anything, but my Windows 7 install seemed to stop freezing as much after I set the compatibility mode to Windows Vista and set it to run as administrator.

I'll have to try that out, so far putting it in Documents did pretty well.

Hello there, new guy. You have chosen your game well, because it's really cool, until you get bored from it.

My advice : Do not start a fight by being afraid and running away from it.
