About the source code.
« on: June 23, 2009, 12:47:21 AM »
I hear some have emailed Atari, asking for it to be released, but with no response. I was thinking, RA2 being a game that is realitivly unknown, and has a very small following, they may be more.... open to the idea of releasing it, if given a nudge. So, what if a huge amout of people (realitive to the game's following) send in emails, or called or made a petition? Maybe all 3. Is it a waste of time, or is it worth a shot? This site alone has over 3500 members, perhaps we could make a dent?
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
         You have relieved me in my distress;
         Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

I say they would be likely to sell it, because they are a business. So I highly doubt that they would just release it.

Edit: The only problem I see with a petition, though, is that that usually requires signatures. Signatures would be pretty hard to get from 3500 people from all over the world.

Online Petitions do not require a physical signature, only that you verify that you are indeed a real person with an email address and first and last name.

Are you sure most of those 3500 people aren't spambots?
Any comments would be appreciated. :D

This site alone has over 3500 members, perhaps we could make a dent?

I looked at the post counts of very one of those 3500 members (OK, I sorted their total posts and looked at the numbers.)

There are 114 pages of members on the Members list. 96 of those pages are full of members haven't posted once, or otherwise had their posts deleted.
Another page is half filled with people with the same amount of 'activity.'

So, 96x30+15... 2895 members who haven't done sh** on this site.

That leaves 505 members who atleast posted once. Let's not filter it even more.

Oh what the heck, I'll filter it more anyway
Of the 17 and a half pages of members who did something, Only 6 pages (minus one person) have posted 10 times. That leaves 179.
