Title: New to the game: some issues etc.
Post by: marvdude on October 23, 2015, 12:45:08 PM: Finally found this what appears to GODWORTHY in gaming form, I just played a match vs Hypno-disk as one of them newb bots. The gameplay is incredible in my opinion, used to LOVE the robot wars games on the Ps2/xbox. few issues to discuss hopefully someone can help.

1. I want the update that has Razer and wheely big cheese etc, I saw that in the recent updates (not sure how recent) they are not included which feels a massive downgrade?! (I know why they aren't, but I want the update where they are still there. More choice of Robots is what I am looking for, I am happy to play on that older update, having watched some incredible game play videos on youtube.

2. I was trying to do this for mac but so far used a friends laptop to test it out, Why cant you use the known robots? it only allows me to choose the newb ones and not hypno-disk, Tornado, etc.

Post by: yugitom on October 23, 2015, 12:52:22 PM: Are you using DSL or Official Robot Wars? There are no real updates to RA2, just different metagames. I imagine you have mistaken the Robot Wars mod as an update to DSL as you say that Razer is gone when he was there before, which is not true for any of the DSL updates.

*Edit: Silly me, you might be on about DSL 3. That's beta, so no replicas. You're best using 2.1 if you want the replicas. Official Robot Wars mod is good an' all.

The original game (v1.4) has no relation to RW whatsoever, DSL2.1 has a few replicas, but RWRA2 has the most RW content, for obvious reasons.

WBC, Tornado and Hypno-Disc are in DSL, WBC isn't in RWRA2 but a lot of other bots are.

Welcome to gtm.
To make it short: Razer and WBC will not be included in the RA2RW mod as we either don't have permission to use them or them beeing in contract with another company. So please don't keep asking about it.
But please enjoy your stay on GTM :)

so which one do I need to download to have Wheely big cheese etc? so many confusing names, Ive just downloaded

Post by: marvdude on October 23, 2015, 01:32:51 PM: I appreciate all the help thus far, don't worry too much I knew Roger Plant, he wouldn't sue you guys for talking about his robot, he just wanted RW to pay the contestants back in the day because of the costs to repair all the damages etc were pretty high.

Completely understand, They sold the robots they owned anyhow, they sold Big cheese to team Xbots and sold the mule on ebay.

crashes everytime I hit import :( was testing the game on there before trying to do crossover games on my mac.

but be careful you use the right mod with the bots, i.e. don't import DSL bots into the stock RA2 or you will have crashes up the butt

It was fine on my dads system and he just has a bog standard toshiba
