Multiple AI's in one installation
« on: August 27, 2011, 02:19:32 PM »
I had this idea. One .bat launcher for various AI packs.

The .bat will look for folders named AI_*. Examples are AI_Stock, AI_SC3, AI_Pys. It lists the options to the user using a little menu. The user selects the AI pack he/she wants.

Now the .bat will rename the according AI_* to AI, and possibly UI_* to UI and start the game.

After the game closes the folder gets renamed back to AI_*.

If people support this I will make it.

I fully support this idea. I only ever use 1 AI pack because I cba to switch/transfer bots/merge AI packs.
Better than GK since 2009.
I think SM is a pretty cool guy, eh builds unicycle-bots and doesn't afraid of anything

Will this work for any RA2 folder?
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

Similar things have been done already. I think I even did it for WTT AI.

But you're a much better coder than me, so feel free go ahead.

Yeah I thought Phil had an AI switcher lying around... I dont think I ever used it but he was working on one that swaps around team folders too so you can mix up the AI packs together. (If memory serves, not sure if it came to life or not)

I was also making a program ages ago with a bunch of menu's to swap out UI skins and AI folders but I could only manage it to use the default directory for the game so if anyone saved elsewhere they were out of luck.. so it got abandoned in favor of building up the Backlash project from a mod into a TC.

But any efforts create further interest in this game so go for it..

Madiaba made a .bat that does this... I don't think he'd mind if I uploaded it after I figure out where I saved it.

Also philetbabe did something like this but like Joe, I've never used it.
