misc. in game music questions(since means thread is bloated)
« on: February 13, 2006, 03:13:30 PM »
i recently loaded up my DSL RA2 with some mp3s but it plays them in the same order every single fricken time!!!!! is there something to put in one of the files(a py file maybe?) that would randomly select songs from your collection? maybe you could put something like the random code for basic in it(just an example, doubt it would work since RA2 uses a different language im pretty sure)? maybe tell it to randomly select from 1.mp3, 2.mp3, and 3.mp3 and just rename your mp3 files that your adding.

another thing is it plays a different song for the main menu, the team pages, and the botlab. is there anyway that you could make it just play one song continuously instead of restarting a new song with every click. i have the same songs in the folders, the first being move by 1000 foot crutch(good song) in all 3 folders, so every time i click to a new menu it restarts the song. talk about aggrivating. hopefully this is an easy fix.

yea there is a way to do that in python.

you would need a few if/ elsif clauses to make it work.

ill look into figureing it out for you.

I think we need a poll about in game music.

cool, thanks man. this would be OH SO nice. "move" is pretty much fried into my brain at the moment, i must say that it would be nice to hear some different songs every now and then   hopefully this is as easy as you make it sound, i thought there would be a lot more to it than a few "if/then"s and the minor other coding to assist it of course. well, yea you know what i mean damn it. brings back memories of computer programming from last year. man basic is a pain in the ass. makes HTML look like legos while basic is like legos without the interlocking nubs. yea.

i would use winamp(well, musicmatch jukebox) but when i dont even have anything running comp(just showing the desktop) it has 45% ram free and when i have opera(web browser) running(ala, right now) i have about 5-15% free(out of 256MB). since RA2 is full screen i cant see my "freeRAM XP PRO"(yes, i know i can resize it but im to lazy), so i dont know what my ram usage is. i would imagine it is close to the same amount as opera considering its a game, meaning that a music player is ruled out since certain arenas already lag on this damn thing. im looking to get some ram in about a month(atleast 512+, hopefully 768 or 1gig for a good price), but this would still be nice to have anyways.

BTW, if anyone wants cheap computer crap go to newegg.com. found better deals(for ram atleast) on newegg than on ebay.
