Title: Just wondering... 2
Post by: FOTEPX on August 24, 2010, 05:10:50 PM
(IN STOCK) Wouldn't an extender attached to an axle mout be lighter, as well as more space saving that a Snapper 2 or II? Sure, it might be crap in comparison when looking at the 2 in bot lab, but when allowed to dangle freely in fights, it would (in theory) have better wedginess, due to allways being on the floor.

Methinks people prefer snappers because they are easier to mount things on, and can eFFe glitch them for more saved space.

They are not worth it because of their annoying tendency to flip up and over the back of the bot and be worthless there.

Axle wedges are worthless in Stock. Mounting things on axles is very difficult (advanced snapper loading required) and usually just leads to havok.

I did this with the very first bot that I posted on the RA2 forums (a LW popup) and found that the wedge tended to flip over and be useless, and when it was the right side up it rarely outwedged anything. Basically, axel wedges suck.

Agreed. I also made a 2-way axle wedge (so if it flips over, the other side still has a wedge, so no harm done) back then. The problem lies in the pressure exerted on the wedges, which is basically nothing at all.
