Title: It would be great to have style components
Post by: klichka on October 13, 2008, 01:28:30 PM
I'd like to have more extras in DSL such as sound chips and decorations. Possibly eyeballs and flags of multiple nationalities maybe some lights like those police beacon lights and industrial versions as well, heck multiple colors multiple fun.

A horn would be nice too. Like a sound chip but external and with different sounds.

All the decorations should be lightweight and weak because they are not armor, but dressing to add style.

Thought the same thing.

Anyways it would be cool.

EDIT: sound chips have been done before. There's a loudspeaker in FB's pack.

Why the heck not? A few generic fashion components would be great I think. Don't you want to have a clown's hooter go off on your bot every time you hit something with the hammer?

There should be a component where you can record your voice on the computer and make the bot say something when A certain thing happens, such as it saying "Ha Ha" when the bot is hit by the weapon.

there's traffic cones in the FB pack, I'm sure somone could make a teddy bear head and a rubber version of the bear claws, and there's some other things I might have forgot...

You could do that yourself, Somebody. Just,
(1) record your words in a small wav file,
(2) place it in the 'Sounds' folder, then
(3) go into the txt of the weapon you want your voice to be triggered by and write the name of the wav file in this line:
damagesounds = sounds\XXXXX.wav

I'd punch my monitor if Nelson's Ha-Ha was added to a weapon blow.
I would however like a taunting chip and I know its been made before. You could pretty much make it say whatever you want if you replace the correct wav. If you wish you could make a bot with a bamboo texture and replace one of the taunt wavs with 'That one'.

A taunting chip would be more than awesome. Like the Worms speech. And even more, with different types of speech, like the bravado ("You won't even scratch my armor!"), the knight ("Thou shalt not pass!")the n00b ("OMG u r cheating!"), the villain ("Welcome to Hell!"), etc...

I would be glad to help.. if i can.

EDIT: I found the taunting chip, but most of the taunts suck. Hard.

Even worse, FB made a motor that does that while it's running...

That's as bad as the sneaky "That's it, you're now a Lego wizard!" mystifying taunt, in the bot lab. hehe.

That's why you replace the sound files with whatever you want. You could make a rammer for example and have it play a train horn sound as it comes at the enemy from a long charge.

If we could get a bar light or cop light of some sort I'd definately suggest this for a soundchip replacement: http://198.173.64.150/images/wolo/fa-siren.wav

Aw, screw it - let 'em find it for themselves.  I know which one it is, and I finally had to make the sound wave something else 'cuz I got tired of listening to it.

cool pic in the sig, my friend - my ex g/f had one of those.  Her mom collected a LOT of Mickey Mouse stuff.
