Ironforge Ballasts with Multibots
« on: January 10, 2016, 02:58:20 PM »
(donno where to put this)

Let's say I'm making a Ironforge multibot.  Does each half get 4 free ballasts, or do I get 4 free ballasts for the whole thing (ie, 2 per bot)?

I imagine it would be the latter since the combined weight needs to stay near the maximum weight limit.  The former might have the bot push over the desired weight limit.  Hopefully I'm making this clear enough.

im pretty sure its 4 ballasts total spread however you want across each bot
either way im sure your bot is fine ;)

That's about what I was thinking too.

No it wasn't actually, I was gonna do a SHW that consisted of 2 HSes with 4 ballasts each for stability.  I'll try it with 2 each then.

The ironforge ballast rule has nothing to do with multibots... each ironforge bot is allowed up to 4 ballasts to balance the bot and not make it go too fast/be too light/be unstable due to high power motors.

You are already nerfing your bot by adding ballasts, so ballast weight is not actually active weight. Hence there's no point in "balancing" it with multibot weight by saying ballast weight must be shared between multibots.

tl;dr ballasts aren't actually making your bot better, so they are not relevant to multibot weight balance.

MW's can have four ballasts and HW's can have four ballasts, hence MW multibots can have four ballasts as well.

actually i rethought it and i agree with nary. ballasts should be tacked on top of individual robots.

The rules were design so a SHW fits within the 800kg without using anti ballast, 4 seem to be enough to balance everything up to SHW, and having an cap is good to prevent unforeseen abuse.

So yes, 4 per bot.

I'm sorry, but I'm still not sure whether you meant "4 per each half of the multibot" or "4 total between the two halves."

Like Nary said, you can put 4 on a light weight, or 4 on each multi bot.
