Hi guys,

Some of you may have noticed I recently finished up Chinese Whispers 3. I'm looking to start a new one and I'm thinking Ironforge might be a nice fresh look on the idea.
In order to prepare for this I'm going to try out all 3 main weight classes and see what works. However, I can't do this alone due to the nature of Chinese Whispers.

I'm looking for 8 volunteers to do some test building over the next week or so.

2 of you should be experienced builders preferably AU or above to act as 'captains'.
6 can be anyone interested but please make sure you'll have access to a PC all week.

We shall have 2 teams of 4 build a LW, MW and HW to Ironforge specifications (not including ballast which can be added upon completion).
Then I'll see what we end up with I guess!

If you have any other ideas to try let me know!

Iron Whispers. Figured out what tournament right from the get-go. I'll join. I could probably be a captain, or not. I don't mind either way.

One question: Do the builders stop at a certain number of parts attached or a certain weight limit we build to?

It's weight based, captains will build a chassis then the remaining weight will be divided by 4 and each builder adds that much weight.

Are the Ironforge weight limits listed somewhere?

In a nutshell, the weight limit for Ironforge is the normal weight limit cut in half. For the sake of looking for it, here are the weight limits, sans ballasts. LW is 125 kg, MW is 200 kg, and HW is 400 kg.

Edit: Ninja'd, but I was a little more specific.

In the mean time I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on how they found building in each weight class and how their bots turned out.
Once I've done some fights I'll do a signups discussion thread where I can finalise rules for a full tournament.

The LW almost went according to plan, I was hoping for a poker with the MW, and I didn't even think I'd get a hammer with the HW, in fact, I was not even sure what to do for the HW at all. Everything went alright all things considered. I'd say we might have at least 2 out of the 3 matchups.

EDIT: I'm also pleased that no-one decided to pull an oddishmobile (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/11468craaig%20Splash.png) on me.

I think it's pretty good when hammering, but not when moving unless it's AI numbers were set low. It drives like it's a caffeinated drunk.

i would like to blame naryar for rusing my plans for a lw poker and ty4er for my plans for a hw hammer  :p
i'm still confused as why ty4er put the weaker extender to hold the weapon motor, added the sickles, and didn't check to see if we could actually fit weapons without moving the battery  :rage
matches should rather even other than the LW one which i think will go to redace's team unless ghetto pinner 6,000,000 manages to break off blackjack's weapons

and that MW win was lucky. come on have you seen the first wedge where this gutripper was sent flying ? twice it did the same thing and put itself back perfectly

Yeah, I ain't so good in Ironforge, but 09's team had luck on their side as well. There were two moments where the rammer was stuck on it's face and it still won.

Ah well, can't really complain. Good game guys.
