Title: In-Battle Music
Post by: mean2u on January 25, 2006, 04:31:56 PM
Would this be easy to do? I remember in the AU AI Pack, the Battlebots arena had music playing. So anyways..

It wouldn't be hard to put in the code for music... the problem is getting non-copyrighted music in .wav format.  And those wavs are huge, even bigger than MP3's, which would probably double the dowload time or something if we had a different music for most arenas.  So I wouldn't count on it.

The Stunt Arena, however, does have in-game music.  It uses a music file that comes with the game but is never used (droneloop.wav) so having to download it isn't a problem.  I guess that will have to do.  It would be kind of annoying if every arena played the same music.

Well what about allowing the code but not putting in music? Let the user fill in the blank.

Well more ideas there. Including music.

Oh yea, and putting arenas like the Blade arena into the Tabletop catergory as well would be pretty nice.

But game crashes if someone places any new tabletop arenas there.

Change of plans... we may be able to get some battle music after all (from secret sources right now).  It will mean a longer wait for the release, though.

I dun wanna spam up the rest of the forum so i'll just list some other suggestions here.

- Remove Hellraisers from Battlebox
- Fix glitches with Nightmare and Backlash's disks with the Battlebox
- Audience, crowd, spectators, etc. It gets lonely, lol.
- 2v1v1 hybrid team game.

Just suggestions, if you can't do them, no prob lol.

i personally think we should axe all unneccesary .mp3 files. they just bloat the package with unneeded extra size that causes us 56k-ers to have to wait like an hour+ longer. not to mention i will just end up replacing them with my own music anyways(nothing like some avenged sevenfold while dominating your opponent). or you could offer a non-bloated 56k friendly(er) version.

we only have alltel out here but i think its $15 too. i also think they have free installation too. ive told my dad but he still wont get it for some damn reason. we have $20 56k and a $20 second phone line too so we would be saving like $25. its retarded.

What about a Music plug-in(seprate download thing)

actually that wont work to well.

music are in the arenas PY.  People with the plugin would not be able to play people without it(online).
