Title: Impossible to make a bot drive straight
Post by: nightcracker on June 26, 2011, 06:43:05 AM
Alright, what is going on here? I was just messing around with measuring up the new chassis for my new bot and I put the drivetrain in to see if it fit. And it can't drive straight. I tried replacing the motors, restarting the game, different wheels, but it can't drive straight at all.

Would one of you guys look at it? Here is the .bot: http://nclabs.org/downloads/testing.bot (http://nclabs.org/downloads/testing.bot)

Yeah, batteries affect weight distro.

Serious? I thought batteries didn't affect weight distro at all.

According to others, they wouldn't. But then I did this:

Veers to the right most of the time.

Rotate wheels. AGOD ahead.

I confirm that batteries make a difference in weight distribution and that this difference is extremely important for drivetrains.

If your bot has a weight distribution even slightly offset to either side the bot will have a deviation towards the other side.

My testbot used for this: http://nclabs.org/downloads/testbatterydistro.bot (http://nclabs.org/downloads/testbatterydistro.bot)
