I need three people to help me with a tournament I was thinking of. I'm new so I don't know where to start
-
Well what's your idea and what do you need help with?
-
You might get more help if you tell people what exactly they're going to be helping to achieve.
Is it AI'ing? Creating rules? Brackets?
-
My signature has a link that shows how to AI if you want help with that.
-
I want it to be like robot wars
and I need help with AI'ing and bracket and the splash
-
You could try Paint.NET for the splash.
-
I'm so Busy that I don't think I'll have time
-
If you're too busy to even do the splash, what hope do you have of hosting matches and uploading?
-
forget I even said that
-
AI'ing I can't do just need someone to do that and splash
-
just learn to AI yourself. i learned how to a month after joining and it is not difficult at ALL*
*for the most part, unless a bot decides to be an irritation.

Learning to AI is relatively easy and if you put the effort forth i'm sure that you can learn. Or you could also request in the rules for said tourney that all the bots be AI'ed by the builders, just a thought would give you less to worry about. On a different note do you have any idea of the format that you want this tournament to be?
-
I want the format to be like Series 4 of Robot wars with 6 bots in each heat
-
tried to post my tournament but i seems it wont let me
-
I assume you're trying to post it in signups, you can't. You have to post it in the torunament discussion section and get it approved before it moves forward. And your chances aren't that good when you're trying to pass off that much of the work. I'm not putting you down, just pointing out the facts that there's a limited number of tournament slots and a lot of people clamouring for them.
-
I agree with sonny here. You need to get your ducks in a row before you go posting the tournament anywhere. I'm not trying to discourage you, just seems your tourney is rather unorganized at this point and there will be alot of work for others to do. You need to be self reliant before you start a tournament. You have to be able to carry most of the weight, because as a host that's just how the cards play out.
-
There's a couple of things you HAVE to establish on your tournament's rules:
-IRL or not
-DSL or Stock
-Number of Entries or Deadline
-Which glitches are allowed
-Which cheatbot parts are allowed
-Which arena will be used
-Havok'ing, definitely going to have to let us know what happens should a bot havok and change the outcome of the match
And that's kind of it. And also, you might wanna learn how to AI, it's actually easy. Just use ianh's guide.
But other than those issues, I'm interested.

Even if you want all entrants to be AIed by their respective builders, all hosts must be able to perform rudimentary AIing or have someone else who can do it.
Edit: It doesn't take much effort to figure out how to AI something.

You are correct. I guess it must have slipped my mind because it requires so little knowledge to achieve. However this helps no one, your best bet is going to learn to AI. Wont take too long, and its just something that comes with the territory of hosting a tournament. If you want to host a tournament then you have to be able to AI.

I just sent my tournament request

I am having trouble A.I ing aswell, it is bloody hard a need it to be explained well to me
