this AI bot is cool, its chassis is tranparent, can see inside wires and stuff, how can i do it?
-
It's a a bunch of cheat components. Get it in your bot lab and look at it.
The real chassis is right here:

LOL.
Hkhw, you simply CAN'T make the chassis transparent, but you can skin it/add custom components to give the illusion it is transparent.
-
You can skin it so it looks like it has the components underneath it. Just use something like GIMP to do it.
-
See: Lethal Force in the Starcore packs.

Nice bump. You helped an already answered question.

:ban_smily:
Anyway, Lethal Force looks like crap IMO, so I dunno if that's really a great way to do this.

The Hydro senses a spambot...

What about parts of Wedge Tracker. And Stratocaster.

I actually made a 100% transparent BMP skin texture for RA2 but the BMP format was a later one (one RA2 couldn't handle) first time applying a texture has crashed my game :P
-
can u try to fix it?
-
Can't, you have to edit the .exe and you need a special code which we don't have.
-
Does anyone think they could make a transparent skin? Its something I'd use on a lot of my bots.

Well you can't technically make a transparent skin. But you can give the bot the illusion of being transparent. Like Kill343's Stratocaster.
Basically, if you take a screenshot of the bot while it is in the lab (while you are working on it and without the chassis visible) you can edit that that picture and use it for the final skin on the bot.
I.E. take a screenshot of the top, cut and paste it into the skin for the top of the bot.
If you find a pic of Stratocaster on the forum, you will get the idea.

RA2 cannot handle a photoshop BMP with Alpha channels :(

HOWEVER, what you CAN do is take a screenshot of the components inside the botlab from directly overhead, and then edit them into the robot's custom skin.
And I don't have a screenshot of Stratocaster on this computer, but if you check my stock showcase it is a good example of what using an image of the internals can look like.
EDIT: EVERYBODY JUST BEAT ME TO IT...

Just? by 4 and 6 hours ? :P

I did not read the next page. Welp...
-
In addition to the screenshot method, you can try adding some grey or white tint to give it that plasticy look. That's how I made Killerhurtz's skin.

I feel bad now... Essentially, this question is THE KILL343GS question. No other question suits him better and we totally ruined his fun. :gawe:

13daybumplol
Anyways, Madiaba succeeded in creating an invisible chassis IIRC. However, since all baseplate components are invisible anyways outside of the botlab, everything attached directly to the chassis is invisible too.

13 day bump?
There's a 2 year bump on the 1st page here.
BTW: Invisible chassis - epic.
