When you have a brainstorm, how do you remember your bot design for later? IE do you draw it down really fast, just remember it, etc.
Please explain.
-
since i have a good memory( for things my brain wants to remember, like designs, schematics, and pi) i just remember it.
-
most times just remember, sometimes scribble out a drawing to help
-
I draw it down usually, since when I have a brainstorm it's really detailed and I can't remember it later.
-
i usually just think of the basic design, and lator( when im building it) i do all the extender work and whatnot.
like now im thinking of a full body vs and a full body hs.
-
I doodle them at school and then build the best looking designs at home.
-
I never have brain storms, I just throw stuff together and rebuild till it works.
-
Mostly what S32 said, but sometimes I get a good idea and don't write it down on paper and then it is lost forever!
-
I have super picture memory, if I see a picture or picture something in my head, I can remember it for a long time. Weeks, sometimes even months.
This does become annoying sometimes when I feel like reading old comic books I have read, all I have to do is to see the cover and I remember most of the content >_<
-
Normally i think stuff up a school and come home to build it. Whenever I have a really good idea my parents actually let me stay on the computer longer because they are impressed by my robots and know that I'll forget the idea if I don't build it.
So you could say that the game remembers it for me.

Lucky.

wow ur lucky
the only way my parents would let me do that is if i made a splash afterward, cuz "that is something that will help you in life"
-
Luckier.
-
Normally those awsum bots turn out to be a good bot or an EPIC FAIL, normally caused by rule of 7 or multitude of other glitches.
-
Ill try to remember it so much good as I can.
-
I sometimes rebuild out of a copy of one of my other bots (Physical Pain was made of a modified Crime and Punishment 4 chassis.
-
I pretty much just throw things together and rebuild till it works and if i can't make it work the way i want ill start from scratch using the idea that i have come up with. Sometimes i will think of idea's when i am away from my computer and then normally i just remember them for later.
-
I think of an idea first. Next, I work out what I want it to have in it, and what it will look like. After I decide that, I figure out the extender setup and the chassis layout. I build the entire bot in my head, and then with the help of a piece of paper figure out the weight of all the components. That tells me exactly how heavy the chassis can be. So, when I go into game, I know exactly what I'm doing and can build the bot in a timely fashion, unless it's impossible to get the chassis down to the size I need.
Example of this is Nefarious. The chassis needed to be <20 kgs. I got that, but I would need to stack 2 blacks and CB, which i couldn't do at the time.
-
Usually my ideas come to me while I am slaving away at work. I work alone 90 percent of the time so I usually think a lot. When I get a decent idea, I scribble it down on a piece of paper and lose it in one of my pockets.
-
My method is somewhat a combination of the above 2, I usually get an idea while I'm at school. I first imagine the design itself, then imagine the component setup for the design. I implement the components and setup into a chassis I see fit, using different parts or setups if necessary, and rebuild the chassis to fit it around the components.
-
Usually an Idea would randomly pop up, and I try to figure out how it would work. I then go and build the bot.
-
if im on the computer I sometimes jump on RA2 make a huge chassis and throw my idea together really basic in about 5 mins then rebuild it proper, later when I have the time
-
Usually I don't really go idea farming unless there's a tourney or I have a great bot idea that just pops into my head, in which case I write down a short (one-two sentence) description and hope I get around to making it.
-
I either gets a builder's block or not. Sometimes I get the general idea in school or I just go with a specific idea, sometimes I just roll a dice if I'm desperate for a bot.
-
More or less SSG's style. But I usually do the math first before to check its feasibility. XD
-
Sometimes I have ideas I want to build, other times I scroll around at components for new ideas. On occasion I might do some sketches to see how it will function, but for the most part it's trial and error in the bot lab, and test runs. It's probably why my bot tend to evolve a lot.
Problems I tend to run into are usually those involving the physics engines, when I try to build with too much movable parts.
The only bot I really sat down and thought about how to build it in detail was warhead. Though a lot of stuff got changed around during the building process anyway.
-
I usually just get a vague idea of what I want my bot to be like. Then i go to the bot lab and mess around with it until I'm satisfied with the result. The only bot I completely planned out beforehand was Trinity.
-
Hmmmm, I just sit there thinking of a good bot. Sometimes, nothing comes to me, so I go play another game. Sometimes an idea pops up in my head while im playing another game. Sometimes it just pops in my head while im thinking to myself....
Then Trial and error, as I build the bot.
-
I think of designs during the day all the time. I would then, as soon as I could, try to build them on RA2. They wouldn't always turn out quite right all the time though.
-
i dont really have a good imagination so i dont do the extender setup and stuff until im actually in ra2.
