Like what was the reason you found Gametechmods, and Ra2?
(I just watched NerdCube and got it from that)
-
got it for a birthday because of my interest in battlebots
found gtm about a year later when i needed help with aceuplink BB AI
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UL3tBQuNvI
pretty sure this was one of the first videos showing me ra2, kinda just looked it up after that and a few more and joined gtm a month or two after

BBBBBEANS (a while afterward, but, /shrug)
Not a good idea to be introduced to RA2 with a 67 contestant tournament. You're probably never gonna see that many people in one event again.

Masters of disaster 2?

By complete chance. The Tornado Mer vs Particle accelerator fight from Steel Conflict, in which PA's wheels got ripped off one by one, and the description said "It reminds me of playing Robot Arena 2." Before then, I only had the Robot Wars games ,and those didn't have the capabilites to rip your opponent's wheels off, so naturally I was intrigued.

Sorry, I misspoke. I meant 67 people in one event.

Me too!

I first read about RA2 on Wikipedia. However, I didn't download it until watching videos of it on May 1 caught my attention. I also read the wiki and found GTM, so I immediately joined
-
Around December 2015, I watched one of the Robot Arena 2 Videos, then I clicked on the link to GTM, and I went to the download tab and downloaded robot arena 2.
But wasn't until January, 1, 2016 I signed up for GTM and post one of the worst mod I ever made, Robot Noob.
good morning, had a nice day
-
I just googled "Robot Combat Video Games" and it came up as the most recent one.

Googling right now
Actually ra3, but ra2 is second.
-
I liked RA1 so I got the sequel for me 15th Birthday.
-
Kinda a chain reaction of things for me. Found RA1 in a Hope Depot I think when I was stupid young, I think after I liked RA1 enough, I decided to do more research on things (which is probably a fancier way of saying I was looking for cheat codes when I was young), then I found then RA2 from there. BBEANS also kinda helped me get back into the game as well when I was briefly searching for RA2 forums (I think).

Was watching some old RW:ED and AoD videos while bored and on a nostalgia trip years ago and stumbled upon this: https://youtu.be/EF7voBjp080.
The physics looked like they blew the Robot Wars games out of the water so I looked the game up and found the forum. Then immediately realised that stock was nothing like what I saw.
-
I can't remember what it was called, it was part of a thing when I was in elementary school that you can order whatever books you want. RA2 was in that thing as a part of the PC games section.
-
I think it was sonny resseti's videos
-
Fuk all yall, I found RA2 in one of those motherfuking scholastic book adverts from the late 90s-early 2000s
And it was arguably one of the greatest finds from any/all of those I have ever seen.
-
I was the only kid that seem to watch AND enjoy robot wars back when it was on TV. I always drew pictures of robot and one day I was sitting next to a classmate that I didn't had to do with until then. He told me he had this game in which you can build bots n stuff. It was a pirated copy of RA2 that he gave me the next day.
Hey now plays bass in the band of my sisters ex

Very similar to how I found RA2, except I found it through this video when I was looking for RW AoD videos:

had to build a robot for one of them first robotic competitions so i needed a program to help build a scale model
ra2 did not help at all
-
Was looking at RW:ED back in 2014. Then one vid where hypnodisc fought apeared. I didnt know the game as it didnt say what game was it. In 2015. I saw a list of robot combat games, saw RA2, watched few vids on YT, then googled RA2 download. I stumbed across gtm.
-
I was looking at Wikipedia, looking up Battlebots Beyond the Battlebox. As I was looking through, one part of the article had a link to the Robot Arena 2 page. So I followed the link to the page, then followed one of the enclosed links to the Beetle-Bros website and that's what got me into RA2.
-
I don't remember exactly but I think it came from watching videos of it on YouTube. Also some of Sonny's videos too.
-
I watched Nerdcubed's video on robot arena 2, and thought it would be an interesting game, he linked it to the old RA2 website and i thought it cost money and thought "well bugger this" and almost never played, then after watching The Barangoat start uploading Battlebots reborn episodes i went back to the nerdcubed video followed the link to the DSL mod, took me to gtm where i found the download for stock, downloaded that and DSL, made an account and never used it until banter wars was getting some heat from people... so yeah quite a story XD

this is the video that led me here. it came up under suggested videos while i was watching old battlebots episodes on youtube.

Resetti's Replicas.
I knew it was Robot Wars related (obviously) but didn't understand how or what was happening so I started playing it. Then a year after I got a lot of his bots and had lots and lots of fun which is why I want to release this asap.
-
I think the first vid I saw was a bbeans 5 match. Although, stupid me didn't come here after seeing it and instead bought RA2 in the box off ebay. I played that copy on my winxp for so long and I always wondered how people got DSL and Ironforge because they looked so fun. Several years later I would find out that it was all here.

These two legendary clips.

that first video Jonzu posted and that other video with the poker with seven million pistons was probably the first thing i've found on this game, as well as a LP of it by a channel named PredictableChaos, took me months to find how to actually get the game cause 12 year old me was an idiot (rewatching that historical bots vid also kinda makes me wish i was there for the "beginning" of this game's life, just for curiosity)
-
I had Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction and Robot Arena (original) ..... so I was one of the first to get RA2 and ordered/paid for it a couple months before it even came out.
-
I said to my Dad back in 2005-2006 "Hey can you find any Robot Wars games that aren't the ones I've played!(which was all of them).
He found it I played and enjoyed it despite not being able to defeat EMERGENCY for another 6 years or so.....
Not the coolest story but still a story nonetheless.
-
Checked out the Team JACD facebook for luls. They posted a video called "Battlebots Reborn", and I was interested. I clicked on it, and it was everything I ever wanted. I asked him how to get the game, and after a while, I found it here. I tried to download the game onto my crappy 10-year old computer that I got on my 7th birthday and it cannot run without its charger. The first bot I made was Whirligig.
-
I found RA2 by being stuck in the Youtube wormhole a few years ago, can't remember exactly what I what looking for/ at but I thought it looked cool so downloaded a copy from GTM. Joined a few years later after watching a few tourney videos and thought it would be cool to be a part of the rest as they say is history

Memories. Can't believe it was my AGK video that got you here.

I found RA1 at full price at K-Mart after watching Battlebots and Robot Wars for a while. I remember it would always crash my old gateway desktop. I also bought RA2 for full price at K-Mart.

i forgot to mention ra2 hard froze my garbege 2003 dell laptop literally after 10 minutes
so i had to constantly exit to team hq like every 2 minutes and pray it didn't freeze
also the laptop took like 10 mins to reboot once it froze and my parents only let me play pc games for an hour when i was a kid. and yes the reboot counted to that time.
