hecko every one this thread was started because of an anoying glitch in ra2.
When i create a team folder called "Team1" in C:/Program Files/RA2-DSL/Robot Arena 2/Teams and i create a 2nd team in the game it should save the bots i make in the second team into the "Team1" folder right? well it dosen't, so i tried exporting my bot and what d'ya know my bot's not in the Robot Designs folder either,:vista:. if anyone has any suggestions on how to solve this problem please post on this thread. p.s. it does the same thing in stock so it's definitely not dsl's fault
-
how many tems have you created total?
-
2 teams
-
including rookies?
-
shouldn't this be in Technical support section?
-
no i deleted rookies and created my team and a separate team to create entries for competitions
-
try saving bots in the third team you made in RA2 and see if they go to the tream1 folder
-
okay ill try that urjak
-
it crashes the game when i click import bot and when i click back to hq to save my bot it also crashes the game, should i create a folder called Team2?
-
what folder are currently in the teams folder?
-
in the teams folder there are 2 folders, one called "Team0" and another called "Team1"
-
that it there are no othere files or folders?
-
nope just the two folders, Team0 and Team1, the team logo images and a file called Teams.txt
-
create ALLL the team folders, from team0 to team15
-
okay urjak
-
done that
-
does it work?
-
nope team1 folder is empty and so are team2 to team15
-
wait, the reason the game is crashing is because there are no bot files in the team folders, is this true?
-
yes all the team folders are empty eccept team0 which hasthe files, bot1.bot to bot5.bot in it. but team1 which also has 6 bots in the game is empty.
-
reinstall the game.
-
MV, you cannot just change the number of bots in a team, out of game. The txt in that same directory keeps track of how many bots are in each team folder for the exe. Your causing a conflict between the 2. This is the prob.
Seems to be pretty messy now, I suggest you try to save your bots and then reinstall (as Urjak suggested).
-
Urjak, you have now entered the realm of Venko because you are no longer a "weight class"
-
I know, isn't it great! :D

MV: For some reason, RA2 dosen't let you delete the Rookies team. If you do, all of your teams get offset from the programming or something. If you don't want this to happen again, re-install RA2, but this time, don't delete the Rookies, just delete their bots and rename them, etc.
-
MV: For some reason, RA2 dosen't let you delete the Rookies team.
Man, is THAT what that is? I've been wondering that as long as I've been playing.
-
thats not true, i have all 15 team slots filled and the rookies are not included.
-
Me too.
^^^^^ Read Above (post #22)^^^^^
-
Well it messed up my teams too when I deleted the Rookies in DSL.
I think it's just a matter of how you delete the team. perhaps messing with the Teams.txt after having removed the team folder...
-
okay thnx guys!
-
okay stock works properly now but dsl still dosen't, so i decided to reinstall ra2 and then dsl into the dsl folder i created called C:/Program Files/RA2-DSL/Robot Arena 2. after reinstalling ra2 without dsl installed i opened it and the normal stock start up pics appeared but then the dsl start up sound sounded but it was still the stock main menu, and after that the 2 dsl teams i had created before i reinstalled were still there, shouldn't rookies be there? and also my dsl bots were still there too but they weren't in the folder. what do i do guys please help, i need to get my bot in for RAW!
-
It sounds like you're not fully uninstalling. Delete your DSL folder and copy the stock RA2 that works. Then install DSL.
-
i did that click beetle and i made a bot in the game installed in C:/Program Files/RA2-DSL/ and i exported it but when i went to the Robot Designs folder it wsnt there, nor was it in the team folder.
-
Just Program Files/RA2-DSL? Not Program Files/Infogrames/RA2-DSL? Dunno if it matters, but you might try having both games in the Infogrames folder.
Is the bot still there when you boot up RA2 again, or does it get lost as soon as you exit the bot lab? If it's still there, the only explanation must be that you're looking in the wrong folder. Make sure you look in the folder for the version of RA2 that you're actually playing.
-
i cant create another folder called C://Program Files/Gabriel Interactive/ cus the folder already exists. and i do exit the lab and the bot is still there in the game but not in the teams folder.
-
Okay i instaled RA2 completley again for stock, and then i put starcore on that and it works fine. So i decided to Create a folder called ...Files/RA2-DSL then i started up the RA2 installer and tolod it to install RA2 in ...Files/RA2-DSL this would men that it would put another stock version into that folder right? well no when i started the game from that folder it made the dsl startup sound and when i went to the teams folder there were my 2 old teams from before i uninstalled and the rookies wernt there and it doesent export. but the stock Ra2 works fine so im going to have to put dsl components into stock so i'll have both stock and dsl components in my single game clever me!
-
Thats weird, the folder spot shouldn't have any effect on the game, because my stock RA2 is in "My Documents".
-
well my system is running on the ACAMS loathed, Windows Vista. so thats probably why its all f***** up, LOL :)
-
well thanks for all your help guys, looks like i'll have to somehow get dsl armour and stock armour into one game and to get the dsl ai into the same game as my stock. someone will do that one day...hopefully anyway.
