Title: Hello
Post by: bloodwyrm on March 08, 2010, 05:07:08 AM
Hey Everyone i'm pretty new to the forums and to Robot Arena 2. i was surfing the web looking for a game to build robots and smash em and tada found it then i asked around my area to see if anyone had a copy. lucky me my next door neighbor had a copy and was selling it for 5 bux so i said hey why not... i've tinkered a bit with it and also grabbed the DSL 2.1. I'm new to Ai-ing but am trying to do it(as i'm not new to coding) but anyways b4 i ramble on some more i just thought i'd say hecko.

Feel free to showcase your DSL bots when you'll feel ready, and browse the other showcases for more ideas and building advice.

Edit : Title fail :P

Welcome to GTM!  :)

it's nice to see another new face around here who has some experience with code.  Well if you want to learn how to AI, I would download the newest AI chart and Notepad ++.  Download links are here: (credit goes to philletbabe and ACAMS)

https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/AI-Chart-2.3.rar (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/AI-Chart-2.3.rar)
http://myfolderz.com/Notepad++4.7.3.exe (http://myfolderz.com/Notepad++4.7.3.exe)

refer to the AI chart for coding help and use Notepad++ for writing code (nice to have because it will find  your coding errors)

first thing you should do though is start a stock or DSL showcase. That way you can post your bots and we can help you tweak it to make them better. Then when you think you're experienced enough, enter some tournaments.  But I wouldn't start a tourney until you've been around for a little while (I think 6 months is good).

That's about it. If you have any other questions, ask me or the many other members as we are all willing to help.  Have fun! And, once again, welcome!
