GIFF Files
« on: November 11, 2010, 12:18:33 PM »
I decided to use the CFZ Decompiler on the RA2.cfz file, just to see what would happen. I got a bunch of arrow and slider images, the cursor, the chassis point selection in the Bot Lab, the Armour Definitions which are used in the Bot file, and these:

I'm guessing this stands for Gabriel Interactive File Format or something, I'm just wondering what they're for, and how I can mess with them.

And yes, I still have a safe copy of RA2.cfz in the game folder. =P

GIFF files are the fonts used by RA2. I don't know of any way of making/modding them but feel free to give it a try. The only font that doesn't have a GIFF file is the system font. All the fonts have a set font size (the numbers in their names indicate their size). I don't have much notes on them besides their sizes (especially when the numbers are equal) and where the system font fits in.

No, they're confusing the .GIFF font files with .GIF image files there (I checked there before). I had hoped to open them up with Windows Font Viewer after what Trov said, but I got told Windows didn't recognise it as a valid file format.

Can someone pack them up in a zip file and send them to me?

(I don't have RA2 installed at the moment)
