Frame related ideas

A few frame (e.g: Tornado's 'chassis' is not the real thing) related ideas I'm gonna throw out. It'd be tricky, but worth it.

1 - Frames the normal player can use. Building blocks to making an full external chassis, including attachment points on the actual frame for armour plates to go on.
2 - Armour plates to fit each side of the frame.  Just so the whole sheet GMF doesn't break off from hits only to the top.
3 - Maybe have a row of 3 attach points for particually long frame sides. A whole sheet coming off from concentrated blows is almost as bad as having the sheet as one GMF.

Could make a mock up of what I'm talking about on Paint or something, if you don't understand.

I get it.  There would be a few problems though.  The bots would end up all looking very similar (even more than they already do).  And you can already do something similar with extenders and armor plates.

If I use this idea, it will be for the Race mode.  Have a few lightweight but low-HP frame and armor pieces.  It would make your bot fast, but if you crashed the low HP would cause parts to fall off, like a real race crash.

To lack feeling is to be dead, but to act on every feeling is to be a child.

Yeah, originality would be a problem, the frames would make it worse then it already is. Only way to help it keeping the full idea in mind is with complex though useable pieces. And coloured sets.

The Race mode idea seems good. Low HP would probably end up being along the lines of 100~400 wouldn't it?

Yeah, that would be a very good idea for race mode. I would suggest maybe some thinner extenders. I know that there is one type of extender that's very thin, but I'd like to see thinner extenders that have the 4 different types of materials.

I think already there is enough for DSL, but that one suggestion has been bugging me a bit. I ended up taking the poly extenders and making them a bit thinner for an Antweight rollcage idea.

It would be interesting to go over the 7 parts limit so that the parts fall off like tiny pieces like real robotics. Plus race crashes would be interesting with tiny parts all over the floor.

It would take decades to load. Think about it, if you use that idea you're going to be putting as many bits and pieces on LWs as you would on SHWs. Now think about building a SHW with this design. It'd be insane!

Hmm.. yeah, your point is valid. It depends on how it's executed though. It won't exactly be tweaked extenders, they're virtually pre-built frames with chooseable armor sheets. That'll reduce the load, but on huge bots where one, two, or three (if required) frames won't fit, yeah, probably a problem.
