Hi
I was wondering why there are not eggbeaters in Dsl. Those are nowadays very popular weapons, especially in smaller bots.. :)
And if somebody doesn´t know what eggbeater is, it is kinda "flat" drum  :

This goes bit offtopic, but I have used "wheel motors" and "Razer claws" very often in my bots at Dsl 1.0:

But in Dsl 1.2 those parts are not in component list so I can´t use them anymore. Very annoying.. Or maybe there is/was some problem in installation? :? Maybe you could add those parts for use in Dsl 2.0?

I'm pretty sure all suggestions are taken into consideration, I wouldn't mind seeing this part in DSL. Different sizes would make this useful for all weight classes.
I see you are from Finland, it's surprising that your english is so good. I took a look at your website, there's some nice bots you got there.

I love the egg beaters and wondered why they havnt been made yet (that we know of). One thing I wanna see is a micro tribar and saw blade wheels like on super ginsu.
-
A beater could easily be made with a few extenders and some of the drum teeth.
-
I second the eggbeater part. It would be a very easily adaptable piece, especially coupled with something like the slimbody/redrum motor.
-
The new Beater Bar components in DSL 2.0 (seen on WIIDE LOAD and True Love's drums) can easily be used for an eggbeater weapon. You just stick one on a disc or bar and then stack more onto that one to make a long beater arm. They're very adaptable components.
-
That is one sweet eggbeater man! can I buy it from you? lol.
Yeah I've actually made a few eggbeater robots in DSL 1.0...I used "extra strong" flipper makers and stacked them to their limit on a "extra strong" motor, nice result. I made the parts though  .

This Is Do-able. have any more examples?

Indeed my friend.

and one more of *cough* me showing off my bot...very bad me*cough*

Ooo, nice bot. I like the paint job and the roundish chassis. Not a plain silver box. If you had that picture on the BuildersDB when I was looking for replica ideas a while back, I probably would have made it. Even so, Primus might be a for-fun project after DSL.
Eggbeaters are very easy to make in DSL 2.0, and very effective weapons. Much more powerful than drums, although less durable. I'll see if I can get an example posted.

I'd be honored, lol.
Eggbeaters should not be less durable than drums...I mean, who has a drum made out of solid titanium? anyway, I guess I could understand how it would be less durable in the game...shouldn't be though, lol.
Man, If you made Primus, that would be freaking awesome, lol...I'd be like, "hey guys, looks! my bot's in a computer game!". ok I'll stop talking now.
*cough*when is this coming out??*cough*
-
Quite soon I think.
-
Eggbeaters are less durable because you can rip them off all in one piece. Drums, on the other hand, have teeth that you have to rip off individually. There's really nothing to be done about it.
As for when it's coming out...
Uh, let's see... Replicas: done. AI: done. Graphics: done. Rookies bots: done.
DSL 2.0 beta version: DONE.
So, yeah... basically this thing is ready to be zipped up and hosted for beta testers  I just need to find out how goose is doing with his py stuff, whether it's going to make it in. If it's still a ways away from being finished, DSL has been postponed long enough; it will have to wait for a patch later on.
Edit: goose, respond to the thread in the DSL team board.

Click, I would like to be the first to politely and formally volunteer my robot-trashing services to you to beta-test DSL 2.0.
I've only been playing this game really for about a year, and I enjoy the challenge of being able to design something from the ground up, using nothing more than my imagination and a boxful of parts. I have pretty much downloaded everything off RFSHQ, Lu-Tze's site, Starcore's site, DarkRat's site, and picked up a few parts here and there from different forums which I've forgotten, and the excitement of being able to totally create something new from paper to test area is still there each and every time I rev up the game. I have thoroughly enjoyed the 1.2 version that you and everyone else involved has created, and I'm very pleased to know that other people enjoy this game so much that they have gone to great lengths to modify it, even to the extreme of going in and completely rebuilding the entire game, not just once, but twice.
You guys are awesome, period. Don't ever change, and keep up the great work.

here's an eggbeaterish HW I made. It's pretty tough, but it has a problem with flipping itself on good hits.
-
Let me to be beta tester too.
This sounds stupid and so on but I might find weird ways to place different components and parts to each other so that's why I might be good tester because then you might see that kind of things what you haven't ever even thought about.
I don't any more remember what weird things I have made and tested but Right now I remember my Mad Coal Miner's concept. That's pretty weird design, isn't it?
Oh yeah and of course Chain Macer is quite odd too. Spiked Clubs connected to "chains" and each pack is build on own "servo turret." That's quite weird design too and I think very many people here didn't even think of that kind of design.
Oh yeah and one VERY unique design crossed my mind right now. Lol Ball III,2. NONE of you didn't even think of that kind of design. At least I think so because no one didn't mention it here. A rolling ball what can be controlled and rolled around by firing pistons. And its destruction is based on that it rolls around others and others ram to it.
-
oh, so its kinda like a drum. ok. gotchta.
-
Whoa whoa whoa...I don't think they need beta testers right now, you guys probably should have asked before they started publishing it (like what I did with DSL 1.0). It's not a piece of cake either. I had to write a report on what I liked and didn't like and what improvments could be made. Think about what you guys think you might be getting into...It might be better to just wait it out...I certainly am! at this time I wouldn't go to head of the DSL team and be like "OMG CNA I BETA TSET!?!?!" "YOU GUYS ARE TEH AWESOMNES"...That statement was not to offend anyone, just that this is what you guys sound like  . cool your jets. you'll get to play it eventually. That's my 2 cents.
Summary, Beta testing is not the greatest, most important thing in the world...you don't qualify for it, I just happened to jump on it before it officialy started (before CB and FB were part of it).

You're right, DV, and if anyone should know, it's you.
Maybe I'll hang out ad wait for a while - I'm still having fun with both the original RA2 and the DSL mod. Maybe some of the stuff I'm building is illegal as heck for "standard" combat, but wtf - it's fun building it ... the possibilities are endless, and so is the destructive potential.

Agreed. I build things that would never enter any tourney in RA2, but it's a heck of a lot of fun.
about the Beta test thing, from experience, I found that once I got the full version, It was great...but not as great as it could have been if I had waited...I already knew what things were coming, and it kinda ruined the suprise.
Ok, lets get back on topic
