Title: DSL AI Mega-pack

Greetings. I would like to put together a large collection of AI'd DSL/IRL-ish robots into one AI pack for use in the game. Taking some of the AI packs and merging them together, plus robots from builders and making a usable mega-pack of approx. 100-200 + robots. I am sure there will be issues with compatible AI files but I'm sure this can be worked around.


Any thoughts?

there's badniks IRL AI pack. i could hand out some bots I guess. most of them are MW

I was thinking of this but you'd want a good mix of DSL bots. I personally think more than 200 bots are necessary, and I'd believe something towards the 300-450 mark would be perfect. Include about 5-10 teams of the most memorable NAR AI bots, then the best/most memorable BBEANS entrants, a selection of BB1-6 entrants and some non-competition bots from Scrap Daddy, Domanating, FOTEPX, Virus Bomb and SKBT.

Yes this is exactly what I was thinking, also including the robots already in the game. I think of it as a 'DSL AI Expansion Pack'. Over the weekend I will try to get things organised.

you might want to think about adding 123ai to the pack. its 15 teams.

i can provide you with skAI and freeziez ai since those links are now down.

Anyone who is interested in contributing, could you get everything together you are happy for me to use by the weekend and link me a download I will get everything together by Sunday and see what needs to be done with AI'ing. Looking to get a large number of bots of a good standard of build.

Once I finish LDAI and Scrap finishes his AI pack we were gonna make the two into one humongous AI pack for everyone...

Seems like a few people are having the same idea about a big AI pack so seems like something worth doing. Might be worth setting this up as a proper project? 'DSL AI Expansion Pack 1.0'? And bringing everything together in one item.

I agree. DSL2 needs one last big push before the unveiling of DSL3 so with a combined effort it could be done a lot more smoother.

I don't think everything should be lumped into 1 pack, personally.

1) It'd be ridiculous to navigate in game
2) Personally I think IRL and DSL Standard should be kept separate from each other. That would help reduce the size of the packs and also keep the divide I feel is necessary, otherwise people start building even more IRL bots that blur the lines, etc.
3) How many people would download it? Make sure you ask yourself this, as so many packs are made and then downloaded by very few, perhaps even none - is it worth the investment of your time.

Good luck on your endeavors with this, let me know if you do want anything like RIPAI or PokAImon.

I am bored of fighting the same bots all the time in DSL, as good as they are a bit more variety is needed to make the game more interesting in my view. From my point of view more is better. I will just pursue this myself if no-one else is interested anyway, assuming people don't mind me using their packs. Also I'm not interested in using those funny DSL standard bot things so it will be combat worthy IRL-ish bots.
