I talked to click about this.
you can post suggestions for things that could be improved or implimented in DSL 3.
To make it easier for click I will summ up the suggestions and put them into this post.
Hey Click!
This is a suggestion for the armor plates.
I love them. They make building so much better but:
- the "solid" one is 3 times the weight of the transparent one. do you think you can make one that is only 2 times the weight of the transparent one? you could make the heavy ones we`ve got now a bit darker and use theire current skin for the medium plates.
- could you add another AP to each plate in the corner? it would make "exoskeleton building" much easier and more flexible since you can save weight with not needing some weired extenderwork to get one of those things on
- can you change them so we can attach components to the armorplates? would be cool for future designs.

It would be a lot of grind work, but a middle weight of armor plates with corner attach points could easily be done. Actually, this would be one of those things that someone else could help with, as it would just involve reskinning and adding APs.
I was thinking about something like this:

Just to get this straight, by "corner attach points", you mean on the same face as the other attach points but in the corner, right?
Attaching components to them sounds cool in theory, but you have to be careful not to add too many and make them too good. You'd need some fixed number of component attach points regardless of size, or else the 120x120 plates would have at least 9 attach points, which would definitely break them. Which means you need either 1 attach point in the center, or 4 in the corners. What do you think? Is one attach point for components enough? I would hesitate to add four of them.
I had 4 APs in mind like that:

-Rearangement in the powertab so a Controllboard is visible on first sight - by Conraaa
-5° Angle extenders - by Thyrus
- BBEANS 3 Arena in DSL 3 - by Powerrave
- 30, 50, 70, 90, 110 cm extenders - by Thyrus
- Saws attachable to eachother - by MassimoV
- making all components the right lenght (e.g. 120 cm dsl bars -> same lenght as 120 cm extender) - by 123stw
- Wedge Armorplates - by clickbeetle (on cloud 9's botm splash)

Apart from more attachment points on the armour plates, I'd say rearranging the order of the components in the power tab, so there's at least one control board visible when you first press it. Trivial, I know. But i'm sure as anything i'm going to use the control board more than i'll use the air tank.
Also where the heck is the Malc 1.5 replica
-
do you think a 5° angle would be a good addition to the 10,20,22.5,30,40 and 45 we`ve already got?
-
It may help for some designs, so why not.
Also... Maybe not as much as an improvement as just being lazy, but I'd think it would be good/nice if the BBEANS arena's were included in DSL 3. They are awesome and I don't see a reason for keeping them separate. May just me being a lazy brick, but yeah, it's something.
-
Remove the reversal of controls.
-
that has to do with the fixed wheels. You have to get used to it
-
what about 30, 50, 70, 90 & 110 cm extenders?
-
what about 30, 50, 70, 90 & 110 cm extenders?
Yes, and let saws attatch to thamselves.
-
I think the plates are fine as is. No reason for them to have Male connection points when you already have DSL Disc.
What I really like to see is length consistency. The old DSL components use 0.24 for 20cm, while the new DSL Extenders/plate uses 0.2, so they are significantly shorter than skirts/dsl bars of the same length.
-
I think it might be a good idea to have some sort of wedge attachment to the armour plates, like a significantly wider extender corner piece.
-
Personally I want to see the RobotX caster wheel be able to pass through the chassis. I don't want to have to use the invincible casters but the RobotX casters are just too tall.
-
Why not just get rid of the caster from the original game permanently? I've never seen it in actual combat bots, only those lame kit things you used to get in the magazines.
EDIT: Also, omni/mecanum wheels if possible.
-
Making it so we can attach flamethrower directly to the baseplate would be nice.
*Edit* Did it myself so If anybody wants it I can just send you a download link.
-
reviving this
moar swords and parts of weapons you would see in real life (scythe, more generic swords (like that sword in the ][cer pack and the BBEANS sword))
chained piglet (basically a piglet that has a chain like a perm, it would make drums easier to make)
Flags
Put a normal on the tip of the samurai sword (like 123 suggested)
Unlock the replicas? (I see (A UNIVERSE OF INFINITE ENERGY) more replica parts in there and I know you're hiding a secret, click)
-
Some components from Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction & Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction
-
Piglet Drive Motors ( kinda like a miniature E-Tek drive, but it's way slower, just a few notches ahead of the piglet, and it would be heavier than the piglet )
TMW3 Universal Motors
Several other NPC Motors
Car Batteries
Dual Servos (Because why not)
Lite Flite Wheels
Fixed Connection Point for T-Minus Arms

After playing around with DSL3 for a bit last night and creating my first bot, I first want to thank Click for the hard work he's put into this.
As for suggestions, I don't have too many, but I thought of one or two things.
- the Flipper-maker components perhaps being remade to integrate them with the new extenders. (As thick as an extender, double the width and 30cm in length?)
- Either ask permission to integrate existing ones, or add official weightmakers for SHW and UHW classes.
- A skirt hinge flipper motor - I believe one was already made for a Cassius replica (correct me if i'm wrong. But whilst the new piston motors are quite good, there is still no way to get a front-hinged flipper axis close enough to the point of a wedge.

Which is pretty much the same problem with making a Voltronic replica. You either make the spikes inactive or use a custom component.
-
I'd like the new armor plates to be able to stick out of the chassis. right now they can't and it's really annoying.
-
Is the beta still available for download? I can't find it anywhere.

holy cow it's classicus
-
Greetings Naryar.
I'm impressed by DSL 3.0 and I am tempted to make something over the weekend.
-
actually DSL3 beta has horrid balance, you may want to try nar ai 3 beta
*shameless promotion*
-
Oh man, wishlist time! Here's mine;
- Removal of casters as they're not really seen on bots too often, or at least make the casters more mortal.
- Snap motors which have two buttons so you can let attachments swing two ways (probably hard to balance since it has basically doubled utility compared to single-way snap motors but what do I know).
- General UI improvements, buttons, graphics, stuff that people could easily do themselves but would be nice to be included by default. (softer gradients, a bit more modern style overall)
Edit: Not sure if this is already in the beta, I can't quite tell, but I'm also suggesting the removal of the inverted controls whenever you're on top of another bot.
-
New weapons. I'm tired of the same old weapons from stock. On that note, improve parts such as Fireaxe, Standard Axe, Pickaxe, etc. or just get rid of them altogether.
-
A few things, myess...
- Center attachment points for the DSL end bars (20 to 30, 30 to 40, 20 to 40)
- Perm drive motors, because I am insane
- Maybe angled axles for the NPC motors, or a way to add a gearbox?
- Edge attachment points for the armor plates
And maybe some improvements to the tank tracks, but I have a feeling I'm the only one who uses those.
EDIT: And find a way to make the game not mess with my system volume settings!
EDIT PART DEUS: And maybe a way to attach two motors to a disk/drum/bar/what have you.
-
I agree. Make tank tracks on par with wheels.

The two I put in red are not possible due to restraints in the source code of the game. The other one will most likely be happening.

Not that it's on topic, but you guys do know why click used a triforce theme for dsl3, right? It's kinda obvious...

Isn't that a Legend Of Zelda thing?

LoZ is associated with it but the reason why he used the triforce is because it's dsl3
a triforce has 3 triangles in it. It's like the epitome of the number 3 lol
-
The original mod also had three people working on it until tragedy struck. That was before my time.
Anyways, maybe tweaking the drums a bit, or the Perm axles. I had to use an ant blade as a spacer.
-
Stronger servos. I don't even know why we have servos in DSL2. Make the servos be able to easily lift a CW, but make it really slow.
-
Make the beta burst more powerful. Can barely flip a HW
-
Hate to....well it wouldn't be much of a bump....well still.
1. A faster/stronger locking mag.
2. a locking Etek & Etek Drive.
3. pre-angled 22.5° tri-bars.
4. some form of high-capacity, low output battery.
5. cannons. and some bots that use them(?)(could live without)
6. MOAR WEAPONS
