Button to turn off attatchment points.
« on: March 22, 2010, 08:43:52 AM »
As an example, right now I'm trying to attach a 3rd piston in my chassis, but while I'm trying to find the right position it is constantly jumping to unusable attachment points inside the chassis, ones that are againt other parts. Would be useful, but then I don't know how hard it would be to make.

My solution is that if you can attach anything to those unwanted attachment points, do so. That way it wont jump to those attachment points.

Better than GK since 2009.

There are some very small things in the game wich you can attach just about anywhere. Like the antimatter piece.

I had the same problem when putting 2 Burst Motors above eachother...
Try ataching a component with only 1 attachment point to it, Like a Hex Plate (Master) or a sheet.
Then youll be able to move the component u wanna put freely, Coz the Hex Plate/Sheet doesnt have any other attachment points :P

I just usually stick a few razors or typhoon spikes on then open attachment points to block them off then remove when I am done

BUMP.

Wait for RA2Hooks. When it's released (if I actually have the time to finish it), making such a feature would be dead easy.

I should've probably underlined the world "if". I've been working on this on-and-off for almost half a year now, and really have no inspiration and free time to continue it any soon. I have a lot more important projects going on - like that bot exchange (which just requires some JS code to work nicely) and the 3D engine, possibly for "RA3".

BTW, I thought he was talking about where you try to place objects but they don't go where your mouse points. (Try this in BBEANSAI with a CB trying to place inside a "Prize" Nifty)

That does happen when you're trying to place something over a CB in DSL, I've found. It randomly jumps to a different part of the chassis, and the cursor movement axis are reversed.
