Title: Burst Motor Gives Piston A Spazzout
Post by: NFX on September 07, 2010, 08:11:03 AM
I was kinda screwing around with Stock one evening, and I decided to try attaching a burst piston to a DDT, and it had a bit of a spaz attack. So I decided to try and see if I could demonstrate it, so I built this:

I put the extenders there to keep it off the ground in the bot lab, but when I fired the piston and the DDT at the same time, which it had been wired to do, this happened...

I'm not sure if this is just an extension of the Trinity glitch, but I was wondering if I'd stumbled on it by accident, or if somebody else had already done this.

thats a Trinity hammer  ;)

most cases people use it under control but it can be built like your example... it just usually kills your robot same as having the trinity glitch with lack of control.

Is it really Trinity if the piston is perpendicular to the burst's axle ? I call that a pneumatic-enhanced hammer.

Anyways, it works in a controlled way when the piston is on a long extender like this

I really think its the same thing...

I just remembered a pop up I made ages ago using a setup like NFX's first post... but it inverted itself on every fire and was since gone... I loved its look though but it failed

Trinity hammers doesn't need air tanks to work. Piston enhanced hammers do.

Plus piston enhanced hammers augment the burst's effective torque, and Trinity hammers mainly enhance the reach. It's somehow like the difference between a complex spinner and a chained HS.

I also made a pneumatic enhanced popup, but the whole pistons flew in space when i fired so i abandoned the idea.

I remember I was going through either Psycolone or inf's Stock Showcase, and I noticed a Trinity-esque side hammer, that I imagined would multiply the speed of the arms somewhat. I'm not sure if that's the same as what I've got.

But thanks for clearing that up for me, guys, I was just a bit curious about it. ;)

There's a trinity side hammer and havok fest in Restocked AI as Little Metal Friend, and piston powered hammers/popups in II AI.

The image in the OP is kinda' like the infamous piston spinners.
Pistons with an infinity reach are hilarious.

In InfiniteInertia AI, theres a whole team devoted to this glitch. Can't remember the team though...

Numb.

But only 3 bots are piston popups/hammers. :P
