Title: BattleBots Toys
Post by: HurricaneAndrew on June 10, 2009, 04:30:42 AM
Does anyone else still have the little toy BattleBots that they came out with?

Strangely enough, I still have mine, most are still in tact even! That's not typical of my old toys.

You mean the ones with the trigger that makes them attack, and those buttons you're meant to hit with an attack that break something off said bot?

Yeah, those are some of them, but there were also little replicas, and radio controlled toy robots. I'll go dig them out and see what all there was.

I got what I mentioned. Mauler and.. well.. I don't remember the other, because I didn't exactly watch Battlebots. (I'm in the UK)

JoeBlo: Have you ever watched BattleBots? I think there is some on Youtube.

Everyone else:
I'm pretty sure I had all the push and explode ones. I even had the Battlebox for the trigger ones. :) But I got it out last night, and I had modified it to say "Robot Wars" instead of "BattleBots". I can't imagine why I did that... seeing as I didn't really like Robot Wars. Young and dumb I guess...

Wow, I thought i had most of the RC bots, but Jeffery listed abunch more than I had. I wsh I had known there was a Mauler 5150 build kit, that sounds pretty awesome.

Mauler had the same problem as Ronin: the nuts were slightly too large for the bolts. Some of them could be forced into working, while others just wouldn't work. To fix this, I used a lot of duct tape.

As for the RC bots, if I remember right, there were two series. The Custom Series had the interchangeable parts with the common guts. The weapons worked automatically with the drive system. A spinoff of this series was the Custom Champions Series which included Dr. Inferno and Son of Whyachi. Both of them were pretty cool, though the SOW obviously didn't do much damage.

The second series was the Pro Series. These RC bots were quite a bit larger than the Custom Series bots. It came in two varieties: Biohazard and Diesector. These two bots had controllable weapons. Bioharzard's arm would lift and Diesector's jaws would open and close by holding down a shoulder button. They also featured a much improved drive system. Biohazard had six wheel drive (like the real bot) and Diesector had 4 (like the real bot). Unfortunately for Diesector, the hammers were not independently controlled. Those operated with the drive train.

I was never able to get Minion. The one time I didn't have enough money for it, I found it.

The RC Minion looked nothing like the real Minion anyway.

HurricaneAndrew: yeah I have watched loads of battlebots on youtube having missed it at the time it was on TV, a local broadcaster had Robot Wars and no shops ever really stocked Battlebots Stuff.

I sold most of my battlbots toys on ebay a few years ago... I think I still have my RC Battlebots in the closet though.  My wifey got me a Biohazard Keychain back during the shows second season, and it still survives on my keyring today.  Tough little thing, has a working arm and everything. All the stickers are worn off, but it still functions like a champ!

Goes to show... that bot was built pretty solid :P

Most of the Custom Series looked nothing like the real ones. Some exceptions would be Dr. Inferno Jr., Son of Whyachi, and El Diablo. As a big Vlad the Impaler fan, I was a bit disappointed by the red forklift and weird aesthetic changes.

What I mean is that the others were pretty close to looking like the real thing. It's like they made it as an afterthought or something and just threw it together.

I can just imagine somebody at the company saying "Oh, crap, we need one more. Quick! Throw me together something that looks like Minion."

I've got a complete set of the McDonald's toys (and then some) and a complete set of the little rev-engine toys they had including the very rare Bad Attitude. I have most of the ones that had the trigger-activated moving parts too.

This other toy company released a 50-piece set of things called "Mini Bots" that were essentially sold in "booster packs" of 3 toys. They came with stickers and everything, they were badass. I think out of 50 I have about 31 of the robots, never got to finish my set nor have I EVER seen them again on eBay or anything. (The robots were from seasons 1 and 2.)

I also used to have Vlad and El Diablo R/C toys but I scrapped them and made them into Antweights.

That's the name of the one that I thought was Gamma Raptor! That just jogged my memory! So I have it too, but why do you say it's rare?

It was released into the line of toys shortly before they were discontinued (and subsequently moved to "CLEARANCE" racks at WalMart and ToysRUs).

pull-trigger Killerhurtz
Build-Your-Own Mauler
Tentomushi from the McDonald's promotion
And a little rubber FrenZy.

I never had any good toys, but I just found out that Barbie dolls had the date they were made stamped on their butt. Barbie came out in 1958 and my oldest little sister was born in 1959, so when I clean my moms house out to sell I am gonna be on the look out for old dolls.......some are worth $8,000 to $10,000. the rare ones made real early or most valuable and my mom never threw anything away so maybe I will run across one.
