Any tips for building a Stock HW clamp?
« on: August 12, 2014, 04:04:33 PM »
Title says it all.

After losing most of my bots due to a sibling being a hateful idiot, I also lost a half-built HW wammer. So I went out for a walk today and was thinking about ideas for Kos's tournament and I wanted to make something different so I thought about making a Clamp. So I now ask; does anyone have ideas on how to make an at least semi-effective clamp?

take some ideas in there.

can have a look at that as well https://wiki.gametechmods.com/index.php?title=Guard_Duty

or maybe that

it all depends what kind of clamp do you want to make, horizontal, vertical, FoF-style (aka bursts on bursts)?

I'm thinking of something along the lies of Guard Duty but another good idea would be to make a Stock version of Fight or Flight and combine it with a wammer rack as well. I just don't know how to pull it off with the weight hence why I would some help in brainstorming.

Wammer + Clamp doesn't really work. You'd be better off going with a flipper + wammer.
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

Hardly something I can teach you... though yes weight ends up a problem in clamps. You'll probably need to sacrifice some armor strength (hint: don't sacrifice drivetrain)

Here's a quick prototype; basically heres how it would work.

1. Robot drives up flipper and flipper gets fired.
2. Robot is thrown up and gets damaged by irons spikes on the wamming rack.
3. Hammer fires and robot is now clamped receiving damage from both wamming rack and hammer.
4. Robot gets released as it goes skyward.

I'm also taking inspiration from Click's Cheshire Cat because of the snowplows at the sides and front. (As a matter of fact it one of my main inspirations to make a clamp in the first place.)

it looks like a hammer/wammer hybrid to me, not exactly a clamp...
