New member from Australia
« on: February 22, 2014, 10:23:18 PM »
Hey guys. Just learned of this game after having a few nostalgic days playing Robot rage again (the original was so much better).
Been playing for about a week now, and am loving it!
I now feel as though i have "got to the end" of playing vs the PC's (i rarely lose now) and I feel as though i want a few more parts.

Which version of the game are most people using? I would like to compete a little, and play online a bit, so it would be good to be using what everyone
else likes to use. I saw that there was a beta v3 or something which seems interesting. Is this what most people are using, and if so, can i transfer my existing
bots over to this?

Thanks for your time guys!

Nice to have someone new. The Starcore AI Pack is probably your next step up in stock, the version you've been playing. The DSL 3 Beta is not compatible with your bots right now because it is a total overhaul of the game and changes the game alot. You should try both out and start a showcase so you can improve your building skills. Nice to see you here.

Ok, cool stuff... Would i just be better of getting the DSL 3 Beta and don't worry too much about my previous bots (ie. it's that much better)?

One isn't really better than the other. Just get them both and play around in them.

Ok, well I'll try the v3 DSL because it sounds interesting.

I'll see how i go downloading it because the version i got was not off a CD, so i don't know if it will conflict at all...

Well it seemed to have worked, for some reason my bots have transferred over???  :claping

On the title page it says that it's version two, but when it boots up it mentions version 3. Any idea if i have
it running right?

Oh yeah the bots will transfer over, but the game is so different there isn't much point in fighting the new AI, though it doesn't stop you.

Hmmm the AI bots are exactly the same, and it seems as though the AI itsself is screwed... They just sit there moving a little side to side... :/

But holy Fark this version is comprehensive!!!

If you want a version with AI that works (and is completely overhauled) but still has a whole bunch of parts like DSL3, try DSL2.1 - the version most people still tend to use.

Also try Paranoia AI. He seems to have gone, but the uncomplete teams are still there.

Although DSL3 is quite fun, DSL2 is the more active mod.

Whichever version you play, don't forget to start a showcase  :)
