I have found a solution to getting maces to line up perfectly after effeing them, or rather any component that might not line up during effeing. I stumbled upon this glitch while using the pause button to see what effects it had in all sorts of situations. Here are the results of standard effeing, compared to using the pause glitch to effe the maces:
STANDARD EFFEING:

Almost none of the maces are lined up properly.
PAUSE EFFEING:

All of the maces are lined up perfectly.
I've tested this glitch multiple times with different bots and it works every time. Here is how to do it:
1. After you are done placing your maces using the effe glitch, pause before you go to garage. (make sure f12 isn't enabled)
2. After you go to garage, go back to components without unpausing.
3. Unpause the game, and press f12, spin up your motors, etc... The maces should be aligned perfectly.
4. For every new set of maces you want to add, repeat step 1.
5. When all of your maces are added, exit the bot editor.
7. Unpause the game, and try loading your bot. It might take a while to load, depending on the bot.
*This glitch will NOT work to re-align maces that have already been added previously. They will appear to be aligned, then reset to their original positions once you load without pause. To make the glitch work, you have to do it by adding new maces.
**Also, for those of you who are tired of waiting 2-3 minutes to go from garage and back or to load your bot in the first place, press pause before doing either. With pause on, it literally takes 2-5 seconds and then you can simply unpause after coming to the desired screen.

Yay! Now I will have to demote even more time to my AI pack.

nice.
-
What do you mean by pause? There's a pause command?
-
I was wondering that too.

Yes Reier, the Pause/Break button on your keyboard.
You know, I actually did this some time ago when I was trying to effe an HP Z-Tec on my bot, but every time I did, the axle was like 10cm off center. So I just paused the game when the bust motor was at the and of the arc and hovered the Z-Tec on the place I wanted to and then let the burst motor settle and it was done.

SOLVE AGOD?!

:O

Like SSG, said, I think many of us have played with the effe glitch and pause,.. but not to this level.
Nice stuff, TC.

*Goes to DSL and builds fail VS*
IT WORKS!!1!!221!

Too bad there's no pause button on my laptop :S

Thanks a lot tankcat. I've been trying to eFFe my last 6 maces on my HS and they won't align. I'm gonna try this when I'm at home. :D

Lol you guys never knew about pause?
-
It wasn't in the wiki. :P
-
hmm... sounds usefull :-D

This glitch works every time, I've tried it on 5 separate occasions, all worked perfectly. If anyone still has trouble setting your maces aligned, try attaching all of your maces you will use at once before doing garage and back, that is how I attach my maces.
And... for those of you still having trouble finding the pause key, it's located near the "num lock" light.

Congratulations SSG- You just solved AGOD, the most troubling RA2 glitch of all time.

Yeah, I've had that problem before but usually deleting the motor and resetting it helps. You can sometimes tell if the axle is off center by enabling the collision boxes with f12. I checked if the pause glitch worked that way by effeing the HPZ motor on a burst motor on a previous design I was having trouble with, and I've had no problems with the motor (so far). I think pausing during garage and back pretty much solves all effeing problems, I've tried it with different things I had trouble effeing as well, like extenders.
*EDIT: Wait, ssg were you able to add components while the game was paused? I've tried doing this and it does not let me add components if the game is paused.
**EDIT: Nevermind, you can add components by switching to and from another tab back to components with the game paused.

I always used the pause button for putting things on pistons.

It was nothing, just doing my part for the community :D
But it was tankcat that found this first, because when I did it. I didnt even relaize what I just did :P
I also added AGOD to the wiki.

Someone needs a higher respect rating. :P

Does this work for sure?
When I pause with my already built AC, go to the test lab, and then back, all meshes are fine. But they go back to being messed up when i go back to the lab without pausing or when I fight. If I rebuild like tankcat stated, will the meshes return to normal ALWAYS? Does anyone have any proof that would affirm this?
-
Nope. Mine got messed up afterwards. But i think i tried putting a full tribar of maces on before i went to the garage. I bet you can try putting three maces on each time. Looks like it worked for tank.

Sorry guys, I think I may have described the method wrong. After leaving ra2 for a few weeks, I've almost forgotten myself. I tried following the directions today and found that it's not working for me either, although I don't think this is the exact method I followed. I tried this on numerous test bots weeks ago and everyone lined up perfectly, even in battle. Regrettably I deleted most of them because they were merely to see if the glitch worked. The trick is the combination of the pause/f12. And I wish I had outlined the method with more detail when I first discovered it, now I fear it may be lost. I'll experiment with it some more tonight.
