(possible multiple multiplayer disaster!)
« on: July 24, 2007, 06:07:42 PM »
So here's the problem- I'm having a lot of trouble playing with people online. Something always happens- either my opponnet will just be logged out, leaving his bot unmanned, or the other guy's game will crash immediately when multiplayer game starts. (I don't have any firewalls, BTW)

Some problems I accredited to the other guy not having the same map, but the other general problems I can't figure out. I heard that if you don't have the same components, your game won't work, but I know that's not always correct, because I could play my friend even though I had downloaded parts that he hadn't. Is it possible that you can possess the components, just not put them on your robot (if the other guy doesn't have them)?

So bottom line, is the reason for all this failure a fatal flaw on my part, or is it just because the multiplayer is broken? And if the multiplayer is bad, is there any alternative or software I can get to help the problem?

thanks for all and any help.  :D

I almost forgot- is ther an optimal setting for the connection speed to reduce lag?

Yes, you may have all kinds of parts in your game but don't use them on multiplayer because that causes the other guy crash if he doesn't have the parts.

The loging out happens because of time out, at least I think so, and there aren't any programs which would improve the multiplayer of RA2. It is bad and it stays bad. I don't think there is any optimal setting for connection speed but I have 512/512 connection and when we used to play with Mean2U and Ham, Mean2U used 1024 connection speed because it caused little bit less lag for me than 512 connection setting.

So just keep trying until you find good setting for the speed.
I was Da beta tester Da da dada DA, Da. And that felt good.
