The Snow Leopard's Custom Showcase
« on: January 23, 2011, 12:48:15 PM »
This is long overdue if you ask me.  I was actually planning on posting this yesterday, but I've been busy with RL stuff so I wasn't able to.  A shame really since Click posted his yesterday, and now I feel like I've copied him.

Whatever, I'll start off by jumping on the bandwagon and showcasing some of my Space Arena creations.

First off is Skyrocket, a MW 4-Snapper flipper with 2WD NPC-T74s and Hypnos, 2 Micro Fusion Cells, and 5mm plastic:

The control board is in front of the NPCs.

It is VERY powerful; tosses HWs out of the arena with ease, but is very likely to throw itself OOTA instead of its opponent.

Next is Rain of Steel, a pretty standard hammer, but is different in some ways:

NPC-T74s
2 MFCs and 3 SECs
10 Rusted Axes
2 60kg sledgehammers protecting the front.
A skirt hinge with two 80cm angled plastic skirts at the back (for stability and protection).

The wide stance of the plows allows it to trap bots with ease, and the axes deal surprisingly high damage.

I have more custom bots, but this is all I'm showing for now.
Tournament Record: 94 Wins - 50 Losses
Challenge Record: 2 Wins - 2 Losses

Lol everyone should start a Space Arena showcase if you ask me.

And yes, all weapons are intended to feel as awesome as razor tips in Space Arena.  I am glad you find a use for those axes.

Since you already have quite a few bots there, maybe you can send in a team or 2 so Space Arena will have some AI bots in the next release?

Also do let me know if you sense any components in Space Arena are underpower/useless.

All these fun new spin motors... and you build a flipper and a hammer first???  Way to be different and original.  I just went straight for the shiny brand new stuff right away.

I wonder if such a design as Skyrocket would work in DSL with BSGs.  Has anyone ever done that?  All the DSL MW flippers I can think of have 2 JX's.

To lack feeling is to be dead, but to act on every feeling is to be a child.

I've made a 4 bsg flipper almost identical to Ounce's for SkAI High

Now, a VS which I should have posted a long time ago, just has been sitting in my bot lab for at least 4 months:

Everything is visible, apart from 3mm plastic armor and the aluminum sheet protecting the bottom.  It's pretty unstable, not because of AGOD, but because the weapon seems to keep accelerating, and the buildup of kinetic energy throws it off balance.  At least when it's not gyro-dancing it's very destructive.

Hmm, try slanting the stabilisers a bit, maybe that would help stability.
Or, moving the drive right back, but you may have to use different stabilisers.
