Alright, I've lifted the bonnet on another DSL replica that I thought could've used some improvement. The big slow yellow wedge that couldn't get under anything and havoked whenever it flipped anything...you know what I'm talking about, the DSL 2.1 FireStorm, originally barely even a challenge for a Beetleweight.
After looking at it, I've improved it a bit-

Although not much has changed on the outside, still using the basic outside parts and chassis, I've completely overhauled it internally, so it has a better wedge, better armour, a flipper that works, and can now actually fight effectively against other reps. Most obvious change here, is that it's actually a MW now- previously, it was actually a reclassified LW.

Here, I've taken off the lid so that all the new internal macguffins I've put in can be seen. I removed all of the Cheaty Bits (The Darkcell Batteries, the flat Control Board and the attrocious, attrocious attrocious Redbird Motors) that barely even worked, and swapped them out for a more powerful combination of Ant Batteries, NPC Fasts, and bigger Rubber Wheels, and gave the chassis itself better armour- 10mm Titanium.
On top of that, I also switched the burst motor on the flipper- it now uses a Lifter Motor, to replicate the low-pressure firing speed of the original. It's very powerful too, able to self-right and flip things well without havokking- more on that in a moment.

As mentioned earlier, the wheels are indeed bigger, but there's a significance here with them- not only do they look more like the real ones due to them sticking out of the back (The biggest ones I could get without them protruding out of the sides), they raise the back more, driving the wedge into the ground and allowing it to get under stuff much more easily.
Most importantly however, they give the replica the same excellent speed and manouverability the real Firestorm IV was known for. And on top of that-

It can even do that cool "Rearing Up to Flip Robots OOTA" stunt that the real Firestorm could do, as demonstrated here with Wrecktangle. (And yes, it can drive off again afterwards)

So, what more is there to say? Firestorm, improved for DSL    :approve:

Yes, I'll mention it to him- I'm planning to do similar things with some of the other reps as well. I've already done it with Panic Attack (Still not skinned it yet, unfortunately), so Firestorm seemed like a good next choice.

Very, very nice indeed. That version should be a LOT more like what we saw in Robot Wars than the one currently in DSL. I'm also assuming it's no longer as havok-prone as it once was, thanks to the slower motor?

Ooh looking fab! Always wanted to use that Firestorm as intended. Yes please do add it to the bot exchange! GoldenFox93 I never uploaded the red "eyes" on the front of Panic Attack from RW:ED, here you go... Hopefully an incentive to skin it. I might have a go myself if you dont have chance.

Many thanks for the positive comments, everyone- the improved Firestorm IV is NOW UP on the Robot Exchange! It's under the DSL Middleweight Category.

Glad you like it- and no, it doesn't havok anymore, you'll be pleased to know  ^^

Thanks mate- I've compiled all of the PA ED textures into a document now, so hopefully we can begin from there.

the flipper having no shine makes it look very out of place
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

Wow, I never knew the DSL Firestorm did that! Apparently, I've never fought it nor used it before despite it being one of my favorite robots. Thanks for this!

Come to think of it, actually- I can't skin to save my life, so if I provide the document with everything necessary along with the BOT File, would you be willing to try it?

No, but I have provided it to play as. If anyone's alright at changing robots around in teams, you could swap the clunky old one for my one, I guess   :approve:

Alright, so I've had an attempt to produce a rough mock-up of how my improved Panic Attack will be skinned-

Everything's mostly in the right places on the chassis, but I've not skinned the parts (That's one of the areas where I'll need someone to help me), and because I've only got Paint, the textures come out rather blurry when I import 'em. Of course, it's only a mockup as of yet, but I'm fairly pleased with how it's turned out so far. Comments?

Use a larger skin. I imagine you were using the 256x256 one they give you and just resized the eyes and stuff to fit on? Use a larger skin, 512x512 or 1024x1024 and it shouldn't be so blurry.. I believe.

Lookin' good though.

Yes, I did. If you don't mind, how do I enlarge the skin?

What I'd usually do is export the skin template from bot lab, then just increase the size up to 512 or 1024. I tend to do that in Microsoft Office Picture Manager, it has a nice resize tool, then export that as a bmp and put the skin on that in Paint.

Right, so I've reskinned it, saved it as a copy of the blank skin, and I've put it on the robot. It won't let me edit it now, though.
