Official Freakbot Thread
« on: January 05, 2011, 05:02:45 PM »
That's right. J felt like re-creating that old thread from the original RA2 forums.
(Mostly because I searched for one on GTM, and found nothing.)

Also, if this thread is in the wrong section, then please move it to where it would belong.

So lets start off with something a little out of the ordinary:

No seriously, I bet none of you guys ever tried making a control board-less robot before ;)

So feel free to post away with weird/ridiculous/freakish/etc robots you made.

yep since that is what you are using / what people are likely to use.

Again, thanks for moving it since I wasn't exactly sure which section it should go in.

Now the only thing left to do is see how popular this ends up.

But the zombie robot can still be killed, right?

Funny, I always thought the game would crash if your control board broke off.  Guess it's just batteries and air tanks.

I'm assuming the chassis can still be killed as if the control board was inside of it, right?

For once the mods did something right

*Was expecting Click to post something, but ehh..*

YOU JUST REMOVE THE HAMMER, AS IT HAS A HEAD LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
*is shot*
But yes, you can still kill it.

This sort of raises a question of, "Do circuit boards even do anything?"
I mean yea you get to use them to wire up the robot. And we all know that a part no longer "works" when it falls off, so why is this robot still working without a circuit board?
But then again, there is no "realism" to RA2 at all xD

game seems to not care less about a control board once the robot is loaded into an arena..

does its calculations elsewhere unlike batteries that are still required..

Yea, funny story about that:

And to my surprise:

And my game did not crash once.

Nope. The game worked just fine.

lol

I must make one of these!
Then post it here, with your results.
Lets try and see what other parts can be abandoned while still having the robot work.

No, because it has been known to mess up RA2.
