after poking around here and advanced roboyt combat i have noticed that many mbembers rock at 3d modeling. Therefore i have decided to make a new ai pack. With the best 16 cads of each weightclass.
all i need is the meshs( in .3ds at all possible) from the people who want to partisipate. i will do all the converting.
and i will get starcore to do the ai.
this should turn out allright.

Slipped Disc was created in 3DS Max 4.2, so it would be real easy to do mine

I will submit my Metal Virus bot from ARC Vengence. Make sure it does good damage though.

I could give you a whole team, if you like! But you'd have to wait till tomorrow, when I've got around to fixing my computer with the CADs on it. It wouldn't be too much of a problem if I had to reformat, I've backed them up (luckily) onto my MP3 player. Also, we have some arenas on ARC which were for a competition (which I won :P ), so you could put them in the pack if you had the time.

As for when it'll be out, my guess is not for a long time! It's just been conceived!

yea, it willl be a while. but i will try to get alot done this break. i still need to contack SC about the ai

those are all cool. but i may have trouble with space coyboy.
i like Maximum Velocity better than Stratos-Fear

I can contribute Gudfer EXH 2 and Fbomb 3. They are all in .an8 files though, can you convert that?

I would just like to contribute Metal Virus (http://www.advancedrobotcombat.com/bots/SickLW.jpg). But I can only export it as a .3ds, .lwo, .obj or .an8 file. Can you convert any of those?

ok, if you get a chance please send them to me. im on msn all the time.
the only problem I am having so far is very, very high poly counts.
rhino/ anim8tor were not designed for games. So i will have to try and reduce polys if this pack will work.
im not sure if .an8 files are importable. there may be a max plugin

below 500 per component would be ther best.
500 for chassis(i may split the chassis into pieces), 500 for wheel, 500 for weapon, ect.
i will split them into parts myself.

Hmm...Polys...would those happen to be those little dots I can move around to shape my bots? If so, most of my bots don't use a whole lot of those.
Also, has anyone told the guys at ARC about this yet? I'm guessing maybe the top 16 teams would be put in the pack, and then lower ranked honerable mentions added later?

those little dots are vertexes, the polys are what the vertexes are arranged as, eg. a simple box made of 8 vertexes(one at each corner) would have 4 polys.......
i still cant get to ARC, its still down, dont know why yet, no explanation

That kinda made sense, exept for the number you got. Any better way to explain that?

ok, now here is a pic, note the blue dots at each corner, a simple box has eight corners, right? so this one has eight vertexes(blue dots) and so each side is made up of four vertexes, because this is such a simple shape, it only has 6 polygons,(polys, sorry, i said 4 in my last post) one for each side of the box..........

actually a poly is a triangle
each side is 2 polys, so that box would be 16

you know goose, youre right, i just thought about that, and i turned it into an editable mesh, instead of an editable poly, so it would be 16 polys........

I suppose this ins't still a work in progress. I would be able to submit quite a few bots considering I just got Rhino 3D 3.0. Would rhino work for creation components, etc. for DSL? If so I wouldn't mine helping out over the summer.
