Awww, when I was a kid I used to always make robots out of knex.

Ironicly enough, I can't find my Knex anymore, but my old robot wars toys are in a knex box themselves.

How much would it cost to get a good size box of K`nex?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-Assorted-selection-Knex-510-pieces-/390308118980?pt=UK_Construction_Toys_Kits&hash=item5ae02d41c4#ht_1528wt_952

£12.99 for 510 pieces - you could get 2 for under £30 and have a crapload of Knex (':
On Toys R Us you're looking at £20 for 350 pieces (although you do get a nice storage box - http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Toys-R-Us/Toys/Construction/KNex-350-Piece-Tub(0084891)) so I think the eBay thing is worth it :L

Yeah, took most of yesterday, and about another hour this morning to get it working. I didn't have all the correct pieces, though, but I managed to improvise in places. =D Fires somewhere between 10 and 15 metres, I think.

That's your hair, right? Or did you get some woman to hold the camera for you?

I like the crossbow, though. How well does it fire?

It fires very well. Sometimes the trigger gets caught if it's not pulled back enough, but you just need to pull it a bit harder.

Also yes, that is my hair. :gawe: No-one else in my house has hair that long.

I made that, but my rubber bands are too weak. One for the pull-back thing snapped. I want to get a sturdier one, like the dude on there used, but don't know where to get them. Anyone have any idea?

Bump.

I was certain I had posted this. Here is Trauma.

I thin the part list is accurate. Take one or two extra's just in case.

Looks pretty good. I should try to rebuild that 4-bar lifter thing I'd built a while back. Shame that I used to have a habit of eating the tyres.

Dove into Knex for the first time this past weekend.  Got a kit as a gag-gift for Christmas a couple few months ago because my folks saw the word "battlebot" on the back of the package.  XD

Built it up in a couple hours.  Now I gotta tear it down and follow the trend of making something DSL-ish with the parts.

I got that one first. Took an hour and a bit to build. Do the red panels on the legs keep coming off when you make it walk?

I started with knex back when I was still.. 6 I think. Was also when I first saw Robot Wars on the BBC (series 3). You can guess what I used my Knex for even back then. Most of that also got taken apart loooong ago though. Kinda too bad.

Nope. They seem to stay on pretty good.  A true test will be if they will stay on if I use them as some sort of saw-type weapon.
