voted for ice phoenix, why? neat splash, original and awesome looking hammer weapon :) the others either have a bad splash, bad robot in splash or generic/done-to-death-style robot.

Quoted for truth. I don't mind if a cool-looking bot wins, but if looks are the only thing it has then that makes me unhappy.
I voted for #1. Although I don't like the design overall, from what I see it's the most combat-effective machine here.

I know I have had robots in the past that havent been able to fight well if at all but the basic breakdown of Ice Phoenix.. its quite poorly built.. no offence.. I usually try to still skillfully build my useless robots..
Fighting ability is pretty irrelevant as you can claim almost anything but building skill should be the biggest factor in BOTM and..
Number 7 is clearly the greatest mix of skillful building and great looks..
Looks like a Sage-Job to me... but whoever it is, great job I award you 1 vote :gawe:

Ice Phoenix is far from poorly built. I doubt you would give an artbot an airtight chassis and efficient weapon systems. Besides, WHO DOESN'T LIKE BLADES? =D
And from the looks of the mace setup, Click might actually be the builder of that, although Bruce would've won my vote if it didn't have too much bot lab pics instead of battleshots (more of a personal preference, though).

Yea, I had a MW take out a SHW Starcore bot. Just saying "starcore" doesn't get anyone any points. I'm judging effectiveness between the entries. BOTM used to be cool, now it's just whoever makes the best eye candy.

Well face it, originality and effectiveness are extremely difficult to combine these days, and BOTM should be original if nothing else.
#5 is probably the most combat effective one anyway. :cool:

#1 Chimera is certainly a good bot, even a very good bot .... but classic
#2 With it 4 wheels, nice snowplow is the best build with #6
#3 won't beat much bots (oh sorry, may beat some weaker starecore..) anyway, this is the one that most feats its name, it is beautiful indeed, and beautiful bots are not common.
#4 i would like to see it in action, those hammer may be deadly, but i doubt about its traction, isn't this bot too slow ? does it turn well ?
#5 colored ! Also the lone that use cheatcode as said before, i regret i can't see inside it
#6 modern, well skined, best build with #2
#7 : best skined : much like #3 a big effort with skin design
#8 : Every one did start at a time, the bot is not so bad for medium builder, the real problem with #8 is the writing : mostly unreadable
so i vote for .... Poetry and #3

hopefully the good builders step outside their building comfort zone and try to experiment with new designs, I've always liked unique robots other the basic combat effective popup :P we see way too many popups and 36hsers in the stock showcases so when we see something different we get inspired to try out new things.
you think it's a bad thing that the "pretty" and unique robots win all the time over the common combat effective ones? well the combat effective ones get to win AI tournaments all the time... more showcases like click's would be awesome and we know that there are plenty of builders who could build some nice unique robots but stick to the common robot designs.

true, guys like click and Inf have shown us that but these days you see lots of clones of the same thing just modified a bit which is why bots like ice phoenix win BOTM. I was actually planning to enter a Paul Phoenix bot for this BOTM a nicely skinned standing boxing bot with a number of different attacks lol.

ok, first off, my bad for puttin my name in he splash -.- ive only seen one BOTM splash(last months Ion By NFX) and i coulda swore the Ion By NFX at the top was part of the splash therefore i posted my name lol, now onto other things...
@Sage i apologize if this is a "copycat bot" but alas i have only seen 4 of your bots(the ones in ur sig) since i feel browsing other ppl's bots ruins my own creativity, and alas my name isnt the same its "MC HammerTime" not "MC Hammer" close tho and i do apologize -.- perhaps i should go look through every BOTM contest before i post another BOTM bot lol
@ppl who wonder about its effectiveness - this bot originally started as a weapon system test and i must admit i didnt finish it.... he is only a "proof of concept", turned tributary. the motion of the sledges flips all bots ive encountered but his wedge kinda fails -.- with some work this weapon concept could work wonders, even still theres only 25-30 minutes work into this bot(apparent if you saw internals) and if you would like i can upload its .bot file to either the BOTM bot section or to the exchange just so you can all play with it...... on another weapon concept note, i have been attempting to experiment with weapon systems not commonly used and so far have made 3 new weapon systems ive not seen implemented yet ^^ this is one of them
@BOTM contest - i think #1 is a Sage bot(looks identical to the 4 in his sig lol)
Bruce and Pulse look effective but pulse is a commonly used style
the Ice Falcon or w/e its name was looks neat but "neat" doesnt mean much to me... i voted #1 since i like that style bot and paint just isnt enough for me... imo if it cant murder its worthless lol
@ #8 not a bad attempt but please next time use actual text instead of spraypaint -.- thats just impossible to understand

No one had a problem with 123's Christmas Reindeer... why all the hatin' on Ice Phoenix? :P
Also, unless I'm mistaken, Bruce isn't very much more effective. It only has 8 razors that can actually hit stuff. It would be much better with axe heads or moar razors instead of ice picks, but the ice picks give it a really cool 'shark-mouth' look (especially with the shark tooth skin), which is why I classed it as an artbot.
Anyway, I put it in the BOTM uploader without the skinned maces and iron spike.

Actually, theres another row of 8 static razors above the ice picks, slightly sticking out. you can see it better in the alternate splash i posted in my showcase. thats 16 razors that can damage, plus any slight damage a bot receives from riding on top of the ice picks. Also, the ice picks have HUGE defense. Even against a 36HS not even half of them got torn off (even tho the side of the chassis still got hit >.>)
