LOL, I could have won this with a new F1 car...
-
I voted for 2. It gave me Nostalgia of the old Hot Wheels game I had. Too bad I sold it.
-
#1: Looks ok.
#2: Awesome
#3: fart
#2 gets my vote.
-
Voted #1.
-
Wait.....the last BOTM on the homepage is DSL.....then why the heck is this one not stock?!?!
well... i guess DSL i really taking over.
1#: i like it, 12YOP probably made it.
2# Got my vote. probably Kurt.
3# Classicus, i don't really see how it's a car of some sort.
-
3# Classicus, i don't really see how it's a car of some sort.
It doesn't need to be a car. Think of this entry as a walking tank.
-
I vote for the sprint car (#2). Metal Gear Rex is a complex design, but I personally prefer realistic vehicles. The hot rod is a bit too generic for my tastes.
I made an entry (a WWII Half-Track), but it completely slipped my mind to make a splash for it. I guess I can still add it to my showcase...
-
#3 is coolest.
What baffles me is that Classicus most generally does more work on his splashes, if #3 is Classicus.
-
3# Classicus, i don't really see how it's a car of some sort.
It doesn't need to be a car.
This.
If I really wanted to I could have entered a horse and buggy bot. That was actually my plan, but my dumb ass forgot to build anything.
-

I doubt it's Classicus's, his splashes are cooler.
I'll vote 2, it's pretty cool.
-
Why do you guys always try to guess who made what ......you are never right.
-
1 :voted
2 :underweight
3 :how it can work as bot
-
1 :voted
2 :underweight
3 :how it can work as bot
I do believe the judging criteria in this situation shouldn't be similar in any way to that of a bot in the showcases...

but it uses steel 10 to bypass heavyweight restriction

who cares about weight limits when it comes to these bots?

Don't be a fool. Weight doesn't matter in artwork bots.

ok

#3 is my personal favorite, even if the splash kinda sucks.
-
If the font in #3 didn't make me want to punch myself in the face...
Voted #2.

Can i have an answer anyone?

Because ACAMS said so.
-
Because stock is dieing? mebey?
-
Because ACAMS said so.
-
Because stock is dieing? mebey?
Nope. ACAMS decides what we build for each BOTM.
-
Because stock is dieing? mebey?
For crying out loud, Stock is NOT dying. DSL simply has a greater range of parts to use, and allows for more creativity and originality in bots. If we alternated, Stock BOTM's would quickly repeat themselves and become stale. If you take a look at the DSL BOTM's there have been, the diversity in designs, styles, and components used is several times that of Stock. One of the Stock BOTM's, we just had to build a MW, and it was won by a bot that looked vaguely like a giraffe, because everyone besides JoeBlo else entered something generic. You don't get that problem nearly as much with DSL.
-
I voted 2. best splash and design.
-
I voted 2. best splash.
We're voting on who has the best splash now? What is this, the Eurovision!?
-
I voted 2. best splash.

This can happen. Since it's going on the front page, we ideally want something eye-catching as well, rather than a hastily cobbled together mess. #3 is probably the best bot, but the splash is so terrible that I didn't want to vote for it at all.
-
I meant best splash "and design" but my mom wanted me to feed the cat and I accidentally submitted an incomplete post. Sorry.

You have a point, and I agree but surely the splash could be updated by either the winner or someone else willing to do it?

its always been like this

I am going to guess this is referring to Chocolate, the full-body hammer, right?
-
i don't think that Chocolate was in the same BOTM that the giraffe was in.
-

If we are talking about two different bots, then yes... Considering JoeBlo built it and you're only allowed one entry every month.
-

It kinda defeats the purpose of having a contest if the final product is different from what people voted upon...
The key is that some people need to realize that they fail at splashes (or bots) and work with a buddy before submitting the entry for BOTM.

I was talking about when J won it with a bot that actually looked like a giraffe. Vaguely. Everyone else entered a generic HS, JoeBlo did that pink-powered flipper, which not too many people voted for because it used pinks, so the giraffe won.
-

Chocolates splash wasnt anything fantastic though but yeah, Hammer only botm and everyone focused on maximum efficiency, walked away with a win for just trying something different..
JoeBlo did that pink-powered flipper, which not too many people voted for because it used pinks, so the giraffe won.
Firecracker came close in the end... it was just a little too "out there" I think for people to follow.. some proved / backed up results though
I disagreed with Giraffe because a lot of people voted it just to spite the better entries...
-
I voted for Firecracker.
-
i voted for sparky
-
i voted for sparky
Yay. Mine.
-
Was gonna vote #2 but then I saw... Copals??? A Hot Wheels car ought to be a little faster than that!
Also the real Slideout is purple and orange...
Still a really cool entry but these are all pretty good and that just tipped it over the edge.
-
Also the real Slideout is purple and orange...
Before anyone says anything.. I didnt enter... buuuut I am a bit of a Hot Wheels collector so I couldnt help but share this
http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/Slideout (http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/Slideout)
Hot Wheels have produced this in many different colours

Congrats to #2
-
congrats to the builder of Slideout.
But, if we're gonna race, Im faster than you :yaya) just joking!!
-

Oh yeah, you'd beat Slideout, it's really slow and can hardly turn.
-
I should have entered Corn Mauler... ;P
Wish I had time to build stuff, this BOTM was my calling, but June is the busiest month of the year for both of my jobs. q.q
-
1: 12TOP.
2: Kurt.
3: Classicus.
Those are my guesses. :)

I had almost all of those versions, including the one that's not pictured. Please tell me it's not rare... I tore the piss out of it.
-
The one thats not pictured? its listed as mainline so its about as common as you can get in its production year..
Most of them are pretty basic/ common series
-
I have the '07 All-Stars Slideout according to that page. When me and 027 were younger we used to assign HW cars to various video game characters and race them. I believe the Slideout was assigned to Mew XD
-
looking at classicus' splash style i seriously doubt that #3 is his.
-
It can't be classicus because the font looks fugly
-
Classicus must be getting a nice ego boost from all this "It can't be him the splash is too nice" stuff :P
-
Congrats to Kurt Wylde with #2 - Slideout
#1- 12yearOldPwner
#2- Kurt Wylde
#3- madman3
-
I never would've guessed 3 was madman.
-
wow I dont knew that madman is fan of metal gear. congratulations for being able to be in metal gear club
-
I think I earned a new respect for Madman..
1. for building that iconic mammoth so epically
2. Just for being a metal gear fan.
-
Wow! Congrats Kurt! :approve:
-
Congrats Kurt! that hotwheels car was pretty neat.
Hey!......i guessed two right. :)
-
Sorry to let you down, fangirls. As good as I am at bot building, I cannot create splashes for my dear life. Sorry folks :frown:
-
Can I ask something? What was with the text at the bottom?
-

Poor image import of some text I'd written earlier. Thought it looked kinda funky so I kept it.

I stand corrected. Looks like Kurt was basing his bot off the 2002 version.
I know Slideout primarily because FB and I used to have a Hot Wheels game for PC that was kinda like Turbo Racing, except nowhere near as good, but we played it to death anyway (this was well before Turbo Racing ever came out). At one point it became our goal to collect all the cars from the game. Slideout, Tow Jam, and Twin Mill are the only ones I remember that were in it.
Edit: Just did a Google search; it was called Stunt Track Driver. Man it's been so long since I've played that game, I hardly remember what any of those cars look like.
Doubleedit: So much nostalgia looking at the wiki page for that game... wish I was home so I could look through my old Hot Wheels collection and see how many of those cars we did end up getting.

Indeed, it was...
Also... I am surprised no one pointed out that the number on the front wing of Slideout was obviously done in Photoshop.
