With the 10 year anniversary just around the corner, I figured that I would provide a little incentive for making it special.
The contest is as follows:
- Goal: To inspire more people to get involved and improve RA2's longevity.
- Eligibility: Limited to people that post in the discussion thread before Feb 20 (this thread). You must include either a link or description of what you did for Feb 18 in your post (if you did more than one thing, you don't have to post it all at once).
- I will not be eligible for participation because I already have the prize. Everyone else can participate (just remember to post in this thread with the necessary information).
- Prize: The top three contributors from the 18th will receive my action cam.
- Scoring: The scoring system is designed to give everyone a fair chance at getting into the top three (not just modders)
Score = ((3 x # of high-level projects released) + (2 x # of mid-level projects released) + (1 x # of low-level projects released)) * (1 + % of votes from forum poll)
- High-Level Projects: New arenas, new AI, new AI packs, new GIB work (points awarded for GIBs on a per release basis (not per file))
- Mid-Level Projects: New videos/images of 8 or more bots, new tutorials, new components
- Low-Level Projects: New bots, new people that you invited to the forums and that posted at least once on Feb 18.
- All projects must be made/performed by you.
- The poll will be started on Feb 20 and last a week (you will be able to vote for up to 3 entries).
- The results will be posted soon after.
- For clarifications and fairness, I will add edits to this post. Edits will only be made to ensure that people don't manipulate the system and to provide more opportunities for others to do well.
You have roughly 2 weeks to get your acts together.
Feel free to discuss here. I will filter through all the posts on Feb 20 to get a list of entries.
Edit 1: If you work in a team on a high-level project, you both will receive points. However, teaming up on mid- and low- level projects will only count towards one of you (they are easy enough to do alone).
Edit 2: There will be a limit of 5 new bots per member. I don't want to see dumps of people's entire Team folders.
Edit 3: AI packs are now part of the high-level project category. If you have any contributors for your AI pack, please list them in your post so that they can receive a low-level project point.
Edit 4: As a special rule for tournament hosts, you may receive a mid-level point for every 8 different bots shown
collectively in tourney videos throughout the day (if you don't have that many bots left, you could do bonus matches with the defeated bots). I don't want to distract hosts from their tournaments unless they really want to do something else.
Edit 5: If you swap out the sound files used by RA2, you will receive an additional 0.0005 points regardless of how many files you change (after the poll). I don't see the point of doing this but I'm not the one doing it so more power to you.
Edit 6: I've added new components to the mid-level projects. I know that the GMF stuff can be challenging for components but Arenas have that plus PY work.
