I thought quickshift was yours (or perhaps NFX because of the skins)!

Anyway, congratz to NFX, and everybody else who entered, it was a good one this month.

Wow, that was a close vote. I did guess 5 was Joe's, but I voted for it anyway. It was a new idea, and it was reasonably well executed, with quite a neat splash as well. It may have been that you used the same front as Seige Tank that gave it away slightly.

I thought I'd do reasonably well here, but I didn't expect to win. Thanks, guys. =D And well done to everyone who submitted a bot as well. I think special mention has to go to RedAce, just for entering this after such a short time. I reckon with a little bit of splash work, he could become a fairly good contender.

But yeah, this month was good. Was it actually Click that made #4?

Siege tank used the Starcraft font, Quickshift used a different font.

Was it? I couldn't really tell the difference, to be honest. Yours was still a great piece of ingenuity, with the adjustable arms. Would it use something like Seism 13's .py file?

not really.. the arms depend on robot size not wedges so there isnt any real way the AI could know

You could, though. Place a SZ on each side beyond the original sweep arc and modify the AI such that it will only spread the system when both zones are activated within a small time interval.

I'm more of a C/C++ guy, so I have no idea how to code that. XD

You might have to have a few on each side. So it wouldn't stretch too much/too little

You don't need multiple SZs on each side. One narrow and long one per side should do. They just have to be placed at the edges of the extended sweep arc.

I don't base my vote on builder, I do it on bot. A lot of it is on appearance though. Like if Viral Sweep had a generic gray skin and a crappy splash, I wouldn't vote for it. But it was a good idea, looked effective and cool, and the splash was good presentation. You kinda have to think from the standpoint of, "If someone sees their first well-built robot on the front page of the site, which robot from this month do you want them seeing, which represents us as a whole".
I built that big robot on that TV show that time

@Joe - So BOTM wasn't secret? I never knew that.

originally they had a submission thread and you posted your splash (so everyone knew it was yours) instead of the anonymous uploader.

people started to base votes on members instead of robots that's why ACAMS is now strict on secrecy.

Problem is, you can often tell from the splash style who did it...
