Pinewood Derby is a blast. A friend of mine was telling me the other day that a good trick to getting more speed out of the car is to coat the axles with graphite so that there is less fricton on the wheels.  I think I built those for about 3 years.  Totally sucked at it... my cars were too fat and heavy.

Also did Co2 Racers one year... that was a blast.  Would love to try that again sometime.

I did CO2 drag racing once. I was in 8th grade and they had an 8th grade division and a high school division. Won the 8th grade and woulda won the high school but the wheels fell off my car.

YEAH! Co2 cars are awesome. I have quite a few of them from the tech class I took a few years ago, but my favorite is a car I made to look like Bullet Bill from Mario. I hollowed out the wood block and put all the wheels on the inside. Absolutely fail at racing but looked really cool.

I might post some pics if I can find the car.

I found a vid that had a Co2 racer that looked like a bull dozer. if you're thinking pig whoop, think this. A bull dozer going 312 MPH at a smaller scale.

I used to be in boy scouts and did a pinewood derby event every year for the three years I was in it.  Didn't win anything the first year, won the loser's bracket the second year, and won the whole event the third year.

'Twas fun painting and decorating the cars to make them look pretty... much like RA2, I tried to make my cars unique in some way.

I had a car. It was a wedge painted like a block of cheese. I found a little rubber mouse and glued him on it and made a little bite mark on it.
I built that big robot on that TV show that time
