Yeah, even though I don't see why there's a huge argument, I don't see why you guys are trying to make this sound real? C'mon, I've insulted 'The Rake' many a time now just to see what happens, but nothing's happened. I'm not taking sides (although this message is probably being concieved as a biased point of view) but I think everyone should calm down.

It's a story.
Jeez, I wonder if anyone got this worked up about Frankenstein back then.

The arguing isn't about whether The Rake is real or not, my posts only tied back to The Rake in my finishing statements... the rest of my posts were to elaborate on why certain members think it's necessary to use insults and derail a thread just because they don't like it. And as far as The Rake goes, maybe moonbear had more faith in this board than he should've... You guys obviously aren't participating and upholding the "feeling" of the thread.

You're pointing fingers saying "I only believe what I see, this is stupid because you're trying to make it real, you're pathetic" etc... Why not participate in the thread? It seems like it would be fun to just jump in, everyone likes a good horror story... but everyone loves a true one.

It's probably because "feeling" dosen't really work over the internet. I got what you were trying to do, but for the longest time I couldn't figure out if you were being sarcastic or just having a weird-on. I was like :|

I still liked the story. It inspired me to go back through all my books and internet bookmarks about cryptids and read up on those again.

I guess everyone here would rather try and tear down a story instead of reinforcing it with their own ideas. My bad.

I actually totally agree with what you're saying. I only said it isn't real cos I get so paranoid - I'm not such a great fan of horror stories and admittedly shouldn't be complaining about them because of that. This actually got me so creeped that i spent several hours researching it - and my girlfriend was so miffed off when I said I couldn't sleep :P (we were in seperate beds btw... i'm only 15 :P). Be sure to share more as I know many people enjoy them, I just don't think everyone digs trying to make them seem real, keeping the make believe world in the make believe world. If you know what I mean. I've you've read all that babble, you deserve a gold star :P

I liked both Moonbear and R0B0SH4RK's stories. I found R0B0's quite funny actually.

Tankcat, I do not see how the Rake and the radio are related. Are they supposed to be related?
Any comments would be appreciated. :D

I actually agree more or less with what Craaig said. I didn't let myself loose sleep over it, but I did think Tankcat was being serious.

Ah well, looks I deserve a gold star, Craaig. =)
Good evening.

In a way, you succeeded.  People "try and tear down a story" when they're scared, not when they want to make fun of you.

Glad we gave some a good fright. And yes, what happened to Tank really did happen. He read the story, that night fell asleep with his radio on, it woke him with a very loud animalistic howl/ scream, that did not decrease in volume or intensity after he turned it down and unplugged it. I dont know how he got through the rest of the night but he did. Next day we cracked it open, as it would not work, and there was the remenents of the wire coating, melted all over the inside, 2 were bare, and one was frayed and ripped in half. Thats what happened, I saw it, believe it or not.

How did he know that it was the radio which made the noise? It could have been an animal outside. When you wake up from sleep, you can often be a bit out-of-it and not know where the noise is coming from.
Any comments would be appreciated. :D

When my radio goes haywire, I know it's my radio. How do I know? It's two feet from my head, and as far as I can tell, there are usually no birds two feet from my head :P

exactly... Actually, I put the radio in my lockbox, I didn't want to throw it away without knowing it would be destroyed... haven't taken a good look at it in a while, but the screaming was coming from the radio... at first I thought it was a dream when I woke up, but then I realized it was my radio and thought it was my alarm going off. I wasn't really afraid until I unplugged it and it still kept making noise, gave me a good adrenaline rush as I didn't know what to do at that point. After a few minutes it stopped. Didn't take me long to put two and two together, I swear it was the Rake...

Why does a man with a rake specialize in messing with people's radios?  They should call him The Screwdriver.  Or The Soldering Coil.
