Tankcat, please relax bro.. I'm sorry, roboshark, that was lame of him. He had an experence after he read and called the number, and it was not something to laugh about, so try to understand. I hang with him in real life on occation. I asked him over IM and he told me that it would be ok to tell you guy what happened. He was the guy that fell asleep with the radio on, we cracked it open because it stopped working after that night and I thought the speaker mangnet might be loose or something. The rubber insulation had been stripped off of 2 of the wires, and on one of them the underlying copper was totally shreaded, surrouned by brunt plastic. He claims he smelled nothing burning the night before and during the howling coming from it. I'm sorry again, but please go easy on him. I feel like crap now for even starting this topic without first asking if he was ok with it and over what happened. Im sorry Tank.

Wow, way to post an urban legend in a factual thread about the horror that is the Rake... "My turn for story time! Big Foot!" Would've been more appropriate. Besides, if I'm not mistaken I believe the title of this thread is "The Rake.", not "The Rake... and over-glorified urban legends."... Hijacking the thread won't save you from The Rake's cold rusted fingers, R0B0SH4RK... I pray he claims you as his first victim on this night...

Well, I'm sorry that this sounded like every other single urban myth about a cryptid I've ever read. I didn't know an internet story that I've read before could be taken as indesputable fact. I completely understand that you had a freaky experience surrounding this story (I'd be scared too), but did you really have to say that you basically hope I die? That seems kinda harsh :(

EDIT: I'm sorry Moonbear if you did think that I was trying to hijack your thread. I wasn't. You shared a creepy story, so I thought I should too (:

I didn't say I hope you would die, I said I hope he claims you as his next victim this night. That could insinuate the radio screeching, and any other number of things...

No, harm man, I actually really liked that story. Tank is just very touchy on people acting like its just a story, I mean some of the dreams hes described after that..... The things that hes seen since then, things hes heard.. Hearing them gave me nightmares.... I know true fear when I look it in the face.... But yeah, if there are anymore you would like to share, go right ahead.

I remember back in grade 6 or 7 for me, I read a story about a black cat in Ireland (the Black Cat of Killakee, I think it was) that was similar in nature to what you told. I tell you, I could not sleep for almost a whole year because it terrified me so much for some strange reason.

I see. It just read like you wanted it to kill me or something. I was just like D:  <--that.

If you really are being literally tormented by the thought of this thing, I hope you get through it. I really do.

Oh, and I found the 4chan archive of the discussion of the Rake from the paranormal board. In it there is a phone number, like the one you mentioned. There is also both of the pictures you (moonbear) posted. I'm not going to call it, just because I am admittedly creeped out to the point where caution overtakes my curiosity.

I don't friggin believe it. The lights in my house just started flickering and I'm getting damn paranoid now xD

Flickering lights are the first sign... I fear it may be too late... Just leave now, go to the closest, most populated area as soon as you can. I regret wishing The Rake upon you... now it's too late.

Ignore Tank. He's just joking. No need to leave, trust me. Its up to you, but I will ask that you please do not call that number, something is wrong, and its best not to risk it even if you are a skeptic my friend.

Laughable. Tank, I know you and shark have had your issues, but no need to tell him the rake is coming to get him... Leave him be, and shark, like I said, ignore him. Im not saying this is nothing, I do think there is something to it from what I've seen, but theres no need to think its out to get you, youre fine man.

This isn't about what happened between me and R0B0SH4RK, I regret wishing The Rake on him, especially now that he's self-aware of its existence. It's merely a warning, I couldn't fathom the possibility of The Rake claiming another after so many years...

Tankcat you are pathetic.

I would be more afraid of the thought of a cop coming after me than the thought of a lousy blind deformed human wielding one-handed some huge ass 30lb+ steel claw.

So what you're gonna do now? Preaching the Rake will get after me ?

Rake (although blind and having huge claws for arms) is computer literate and plays RA2?

What freaked me most in this thread was looking at your avatar for a while, tank. It's... kinda freakeh.

I'm still here in one piece :|

I did a little research though and I found the story on a horror story sharing site, and virtually nothing else. I figure if this story had much backing, the folklore surrounding it would be much more intense. Personally, the pictures of the Florida Skunk Ape scare me more...

EDIT: added a link for all those who want to see.
