Title: The F1 Thread

So, what about all these rumour of Lewis going to Mercedes?

Grosjean is the new Kobayashi.

Grosjean is the new Kobayashi.
Yeah, but his name doesn't rhyme with "crashy".

So, what about all these rumour of Lewis going to Mercedes?
The source of those rumours seem to be Eddie Jordan, so, yeah.
However he's been right a surprising amount of times in the past, and Hamilton is stupid enough to move from Mclaren to Merc, so who knows.

Grosjean is the new Kobayashi.
Yeah, but his name doesn't rhyme with "crashy".
And you can't shout BANZAI when Grosjean attempts a crazy pass on somebody.

Hamilton would be making a huge mistake going to Mercedes, what is probably only for personal gain. But then again, it doesn't affect me because my all-time favourite driver is Jenson Button :3

On the other hand, must we not forget Pastor Maldonado? He does some crazy sh**.

I swear Maldonado gets a crash bonus from Williams if he doesn't finish the race, and even more if he takes someone else out with him.

Of course not. Maldonado's been involved with a lot of incidents, but they weren't the same seriousness as the one Grosjean caused.
I read somewhere that he shouldn't really be racing in Formula One at all. During a Monaco race in the Formula Renault series, Maldonado ignored yellow flags, and nearly killed a marshall as a result. The owners of the Monaco circuit responded by banning Maldonado from racing there for life, which meant no F1 team could recruit him as a driver if he couldn't race at one of the iconic circuits on the calendar. However, his father offered to pay for the marshall's hospital fees and such, provided the lifetime ban was lifted.

Button and Webber are cool dudes, and they're probably my favorite drivers (though Perez and Senna are close).

I'm still hoping the Toro Rosso guys get some advancement seeing as they both did some great drives recently.

I wish Mclaren would dump the ungrateful Hamilton, and try to snatch Perez from under Ferrari's nose, what a coup that would be.

But yeah his uncle is better but then again he's better than most people.

Alonso has a really hard few races ahead of him now - 10 points in two races is certainly possible but after that 24th to 3rd performance, I expect Vettel to win the championship again.

I don't really watch F1 but I was round my Mum's this weekend and her boyfriend is fanatical, because he used to work on F1, so I watched the race today, wow, was pretty amazing. I like Webber though, shame he messed up, and I don't like Vettel, shame all the accidents and incidents went his way again.

When he's not starting from the front he's good, but that doesn't happen. Over the last three seasons we've just seen him pull away from the rest of the pack without a word from him ever again. He's talented but his car is a major part of why he's dominating, and he honestly makes it boring.

Oh, and Ferrari is cooler.

And the Red Bull looks nicer than the Ferrari, IMO. The Lotus is the best looking car on the grid, though.

Webber is talented too but he generally performs fairly inconsistently, while Vettel does much better with the same car. Sure, he's boring, but that's not really what he's there for. Red Bull has him so they can win, and that they can.

Adrian Newey. =P

I did pick up something on the BBC coverage that said Vettel was headed to Ferrari in 2014 alongside Alonso, though, so Red Bull will have that gap to fill. They do have Buemi and Algersuari to go to if required, but I'm not certain they would be at the same level Vettel is.

I think the lack of grip is due to it being a freshly built course. It needs a couple years or so to rubber in properly, I reckon. Some turns are pretty good, but the wider corner entries look a bit daft to me.

That may be possible, but in NASCAR they claim that tracks have the best grip when they're freshly paved. Is it concrete or asphalt?

Open wheel does have a big following in the US. Sprint cars and modifieds are considered open wheel. F1 does sound quite interesting though. It's a shame I can never manage to catch it on Speed Channel.

I did see the most part of Q3 so I saw Bottas, Riccardio and Vergne in the top 10.

Congrats to Bottas for getting third, even so mate, end your career now. It won't get much better for you.

Absolutely astonishing race. Fantastic performance by Webber.

Hamilton should've done the reasonable thing instead of continuing - he should've spun out at great speed and horribly injured himself.

These tyres are a joke.

Alonso and Vettel should've done the reasonable thing instead of continuing - they should've spun out at great speed and horribly injured himself.

Massa needs retired, he's lost what he had a while back. Raikonnen would be a good replacement but I don't think I'd be as keen on him at Ferarri if he stayed at Lotus
