During the State of the Union Address last night, Mr. Obama mentioned some possible "uncalled-for" remarks, such as,


"Meanwhile, nations like China and India realized that with some changes of their own, they could compete in this new world."

"...for all the naysayers predicting our decline, America still has the largest, most prosperous economy in the world."

and

"This is our generation’s Sputnik moment."

Discuss. Were these necessary? Should he have said them better? What were the pros and cons of his choice of words? What went wrong?

The governments income is taxes. The government is in debt. To relieve debt, the government needs more income.

True, we ALSO need to reduce spending. Which is what Obama was saying when he argued for bi-partisan solutions.
