Title: superchu
Post by: SuperchuFrost on March 20, 2012, 01:16:49 PM
since all of you seem to have problems with me, i made this forum for you to voice your opinions on me. (these opinions are starting to fill up my other 3 topics, so i might as well make a separate place for you all to spit in my face.) so go ahead spit away.

Bad luck, but this is the internet. You'll find piles of people trying to make fun of each other for very little reason.

Also, you did admittedly brag quite heavily in your showcase. It's better to be modest and to at first observe other peoples standards before projecting your own.

You seem alright to me.  Your "grand entrance" was a bit flashy... and that ruffled a few feathers.  But, you seem to have potential to be cool.

I have no problem with you but you're gonna be trollbait if you continue to overreact at the slightest perceived threat.
Either don't do it, or do it for laughs, like I do.

^ So says the guy who's the first to try and shoot him down xD

On topic: Jack Daniels is pretty bang on. As long-time members of this community, most of us are all pretty skeptical when someone joins and proclaims that their bots are "insane." In recent memory, I've only ever seen one person join the forum and is instantly a good builder (that was Geice). So when we tell someone that they're not that great of a builder, we have a pretty good perspective on what we're talking about. Criticizing your building is really nothing personal, we're just telling you what we think.

As for people thinking you're someone else, we've had some problematic members in the past that have been banned for one reason or another (ie: threatening to send anthrax to a moderator's house) that have all tried to come back under the guise of new accounts, so some are still a bit suspicious of new members who are a little combative. Personally, I'll avoid passing judgement on you until you have a larger number of posts. No use in letting a poor first impression shape what I think of you as a person. After all, we can't reasonably expect you to know some history and norms of this forum when you're new.

I think you're more or less alright. It's just the lack of experience that you have around a forum, but then everyone's like that at some point. You came in talking quite a big game, and people were obviously going to call you out on it, and making threads such as this one (Forum Meme: Threads Like This), is basically telling people that you're going to react if they attack you. It's a LOT better to modestly go about your business, avoid heated confrontations as much as possible early on, and generally try not to boast about things too much. The chances are there'll be members here who are much further ahead than you are in terms of building and forum etiquette, and it's best to simply learn the ropes to start with and integrate yourself into the forum. Then people will take you more seriously than they are doing at the moment.

I wasn't shooting him down, I was testing his mettle to see how worthy he was.

Also, flashy grand entrances should be truthful. That wasn't a flashy grand entrance, that was an arrogant, uninformed post.

Trying to look badass, even if you're not especially so, can be done right or wrong.

To be honest, Superchu has a point... Trolling/flaming is still not taken seriously enough, when I compare GTM to few other forums...

Why hasn't this been moved to the chatterbox or something yet?
BOT: R0B0 and NFX have pretty much summed it up. As long as you listen to advice, you'll fit right in.

I seem to remember Uncle Knuckles being a pretty good builder almost instantly.

But generally before you make a claim that you're a great builder it's best to lurk for a little while.

Because Superchu can't see chatterbox

So he now can't see his own topic
