Hey there everyone. this thread is about *looks at the title* discuss them here
-
Cool. This may not get much popularity, but I guess they are a feat of engineering.
-
I know. If steam trains in the UK became oil fired, they probably would have lasted longer. Look how long the Germans lasted. 1980 they lasted. 1968 with the UK
-
may cause germany hadn`t enought money to get new trains. paying for 2 wars is expensive.
Didn`t know we had those so long.
-
And most of ours are still running, too. I mean, Flying Scotsman's actually being renovated right now to return to mainline service = P
-
Or maybe because the Germans didn't need new trains.
Germans always make good stuff.
-
not always
-
Were now building a new loco a 2-8-2 arrangement
-
Germans always make good stuff.
Even ideologies?
-
There`s a steam train running once a yeahr near my location.
@G.K.: that was an austrian guy :P
-
Ive got a video of an A4 passing through my town. Might get into photographing trains. If i do, ill upload some
-
Even ideologies?
You're thinking of Austrian Idealogies there, GK me old cooker.
-
No, Nazism came before Hitler. It was German.

Ah. Sorry, it's been since Year 11 the last time I did that.
"Are you the People's Front of Judea?"
"F-ck off, we're the Judean People's Front"
-
nazism was pretty much everywhere I guess. But in germany it worked pretty well (sadly)
-
You mean Fascism. Nazism was just a form of it in Germany, and then championed by Hitler.
-
A bit off-topic. but back on subject.
Whats one of your favourite train designs?
-
Maglev.

A blue one.

Flying Scotsman's probably my favourite. The Peppercorn Class (Like the Tornado) was also quite brilliant.
-
The A3 class (Flying Scotsman and co) Were awesome. I also like the German class 01 5's
-
Hey, EVO, you know you are thinking of doing train photography? Well, I think the best pictures and videos of steam trains is when they burst out of tunnels, with all the steam blasting forward in front of them. Iit looks awesome!

Sorry about the off topic, but what aspects of "Nazism" are you referring to? Before Hitler, National Socialism existed in Germany headed by the Strasser brothers (Gregor and Otto - the leaders of the National German Workers Party), and anti-semitism was also rampant, so you're right in a sense. However, it's most accurate to say that Hitler invented Nazism by combining nationalistic, fascist and anti-semetic/racist/anti-homosexual ideologies into one system. This had not been done before in Germany nor anywhere else (although it is true that he wanted to copy Mussolini's fascist regime in Italy), so you're not completely right.
I <3 history :D
-
I..erm..I'm tired now, must sleep.
I'll post something that may or may not be relevant tomorrow morning.
-
I like trains.
*gets hit by steam train*

-

They're giving the internal workings an overhaul so it can return to line service, most likely on heritage routes.

Any connection to the old Kid's show? :approve:

As far as i know, the loco was rescued in 1966, about the time when the show started. I cant remember. But thats what i read.
Also, you can obviously see the similarity between A1's and A2's, the only way you can tell them apart is a1's go from No.60114-60163 and A2's are about 60523 onwards or something

BLue Peter started in 1958, so it might be a possibility.
-
30 years after being rescued. It managed to thrash off a bit of its coupling rods, in a 36 second wheelslip, apparently would have reached 140mph if it was moving!!
-
That's faster than Mallard! = P
-
Have you guys seen how small these trains are
