Title: School and stuff.
Post by: System32 on June 14, 2010, 04:25:46 PM
Yeah, bored.

In fifth year, (Scottish school system, I've got this year and 6th year before leaving.) and I'm in 3 higher classes. Human Biology, Chemistry and english. Might change when the exam results come in, we'll see.

How do you guys do, what DO you do?

I've never understood the Scottish system. I'm in my 4th year at a grammar school, in fact one of the top schools in the country, taking 12 1/2 subjects to GCSE level, most of which I shall take this time next year, except music on Friday, and parts of the three sciences which are dotted around.

I study:

English Language
English Literature
Maths
Additional Maths
Latin
French
History
IT
Biology
Physics
Chemistry
Music
and a 1/2 course Religious Studies.

All Higher.

Picnic Attack's studies are identical to mine, except he doesn't do music.

I took in my sophmore (10th) year of high school:

AP (Advanced Placement) United States History. (Hell of a class. Look it up on urban dictionary as "APUSH")
Honors English 10
Functions, Statistics, and Trigonometry
Algebra III
French II

Those were the only classes of signifigance. I also took health, gym, and biology as they were mandatory.

Straight A's except for APUSH... which I got an A- and a B+ in.

Next year I'll be taking advanced pre-calculus, AP language and composition, french III, and biotechnical engineering.

School just started, so I'm a freshman at a national university. Taking up BS Computer Engineering for 5 years.

Subjects for this semester include:

The only major subjects I'm supposed to be concentrating on are Chem 16 and Math 14. Yeah both are pointless, but it's a freshman's life. :P

Oh boy, the Polish education system is really weird.

First, six years of Szkoła Podstawowa (Basic / Lower School), then 3 years of Gimnazjum (Middle School) then either 3 years of Liceum Ogólnokształcące (High School, then you get your Matura when you're 19, which is required to go to any college or univeristy) or four years of Technikum (Technic School, after which you usually don't have a Matura but can start woking immediatly. IT schools, electronic schools, car mechanic schools, whatever. Those are considered much less valuable than a Liceum Ogólnokształcące).

You can choose a Liceum depending on what you prefer (there are those more oriented in science, others in philology and whatever). In the Liceum itself you can choose your class profile, also depending on your interests (there are no separate "classes" for each subject like in most education systems, unfortunately. But each class states what subjects are there going to be, any can be at an either basic or extended version.). After that, you pass your Matura (this time you can select between different subjects, and a basic or advanced level).

I'm in my second year of Liceum, in a more humanities oriented one (it's actually a bilingual French-Polish Liceum), but in a class with extended/advanced Biology, Mathematics, French, Physics and Chemistry. After finishing school, I hope to pass my Matura with basic Literature, extended Mathematics, Physics and English, and bilingual (even higher than advanced) French. After that, I'll probably just study CS at the Warsaw Univeristy of Technology. They are cool guys: ;)

LipDub Politechnika Warszawska [Warsaw University of Technology] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm64rCGJjlU#ws)

The subjects that I have are: Literature, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Biology, Latin, English, French, IT (lol excel), WOS (knowledge about  society, politics, blabla), History, Philosophy.

Phew.

(Also, I don't give a damn about my grades, especially in those subjects that I don't plan on having on my Matura. Not gonna brag about straight A's here. But I'm gonna brag about me learning Linear Algebra and Calculus on the side, while we are still doing Precalculus at my school.)

I don't really know. IMO it's not that hard. But the 18% passing rate (10k out of 70k applicants pass the entrance exam) says otherwise. O_o

18%? Thats huge compared to the 4% of applicants that get into the program I'm in xD

I'm in commerce before anyone asks. My admission average was relatively low compared to most of the people accepted though >.>

Hey, as long as you graduate in a prestigious school, you'll attract attention in no time. :D

One was for being in the honor roll all four quarters of the year. The second was for getting all A's in History, Science, and Spanish.
